We stayed here for one night in August prior to getting the shuttle the next day. I was really dreading staying here after the reviews, but it wasn’t as bad as anticipated. We arrived at the end of a heatwave and stayed on the ground floor, so perhaps we didn’t suffer like some previous reviewers. We did take our own fan after reading the reviews, but it was not needed as there was a relatively new fan in the room already. It is a tired hotel and I wouldn’t want to stay more than one night, but it did what we needed. I must say that the staff we encountered at the hotel and those at the restaurant were exceptionally friendly and helpful. 3 stars given as I think describing the hotel as average is fair. It’s also quite pricey for a hotel in need of updating.

Wish I had read all the earlier reviews rather than trusting Premier Inn as I always do. As others have said the room was unbearably hot, the fan made no difference, the window hardly opened, we barely slept. Definitely won’t stay here again.

This has to be the worst that Premier Inn have to offer - absolutely never again! When you book a premier inn, you generally know what you're getting, a comfy bed, clean room and generally good value for money and so it is my usual 'go to' when needing a stop over somewhere, we will never stop at this one again. In recent years, Premier Inn feel in necessary to bombard you in the days before your stay offering you breakfast, offering you online check in, asking if you want a dinner reservation etc. what they didn't email and tell us in advance was that our room was going to be hotter than a sauna. This is obviously something they knew about, because when we got to our room, there was no duvet on the bed only a sheet, something I have never seen in any other premier inn, and I must have well over 100 stays with them now. There was a pitiful fan in the corner of the room moving the hot air around. Interestingly though, on the child's bed, there was still a duvet, so they obviously assume that children don't feel the heat. The window only opened about 3cm so was useless. None of us got any sleep because of the heat. we all had cold showers in the middle of the night in an effort to cool down. This is NOT what was needed ahead of an early start and a 12hr drive through France the next day. Didn't see any staff at any time to talk to, nobody at reception on check in or check out. I have written to them and tried to get a refund under their Good Night Guarantee, however they refused the claim, stating that the website doesn't advertise air con therefore it's not their fault. I get that it is summer, but even so, the heat of the room was unbearable and something I have never experienced before at any hotel and they obviously knew that in advance. They are building a new wing on this hotel, I feel money would have been better spent putting air con into the existing rooms. I have never read the reviews for premier inn, like I said, you generally know what you are going to get, had I seen these, I would have cancelled and used our usual stop in Calais instead

Far too hot. Only a small fan provided. No air con in the rooms. Window safety locked so cannot get much air in. Even the hallway and the building are hot- felt like heating was on?! Usually have a pleasant experience/good nights sleep when staying in premier inn hotels-this one however has not met expectations-purely down to the unbearable heat in the rooms. This needs addressing by management. The company is big enough that they should be able to afford to fit in conditioning. Other premier inns I’ve stayed in have air conditioning.

Would never stay here again because of the extreme heat in the room. I slept less than 3 hours before driving through France next day. So no real issues other than no air conditioning!

I am writing this review at 01:30 in the morning as I still haven’t been able to get any sleep. My two children have just about nodded off out of exhaustion. My wife is repeatedly wetting towels with cold water to cool us all off. The room we are in is registering at over 32 degrees Celsius. There is no air conditioning throughout the hotel. I have been down to complain. The guy on the desk apologised and brought us a second fan. I have been online and looked at the company’s complaints and refund policy and it states that a hot room is not a valid reason for a refund as the hotel doesn’t list air conditioning on its website as a feature of the hotel. Personally I feel that it should be expressly stated that there is no air conditioning as this is not something I would specifically have looked for - it was certainly our expectation that there would be air conditioning in the rooms as it’s 2025. It sort of feels like a lie by omission. Even without air conditioning, I can’t worn out joe the room is so hot as it is only 17 outside but feels like 14. We have a second stay here booked for when we get back to UK but I will be cancelling this and driving through the night if I can’t find another hotel. That is easily the better option than staying here again. This is absolutely the worst night in any hotel I have ever experienced.

**DO NOT STAY HERE **Absolutely horrendous and definitely not worth the 5 min drive to eurotunnel as that was the reason we stayed there also because it wad a premiere inn and I always stay in a premiere inn especially in plymouth ones so I knew the customer support would of been good but god was I wrong ! The moment you open the first door to the room it was as if you were walking directly into Satan's arm pit ! It was extremly warm ! The windows were the problem as it only opened the tiniest amount and not enough for actual OXYGEN to get in ! After an 7 hr drive I was really looking forward to a good night sleep which was the complete opposite ! It was extrwmly hot ! Receptionist was so useless and just brushed me off saying its normal ! The fan we had in the room only blew hot air because of how warm it was! We go to Faulkstone every year and never ever staying in this place with my family again ! After we didn't sleep at all we had to drive 9 hrs !! So we were absolutely shattered !

We arrived at the hotel to be told straight away that the hotel has no air con and that we only had a fan in our room… not exactly the greatest welcome you wish to hear (especially as it was 30c on both days!!). We were given room 25, and immediately as we walked into the room the STONG smell of damp hit us.. as well as the sweltering heat. The room was very old fashioned and seemed as if it had had better days. Other guests within the wedding party also stayed at the hotel and complained about the heat - this really was unbearable and unacceptable for a ‘modern day hotel’ - how can you add additional blocks onto the hotel and not even fix the main hotel first? I went to the vending machines near reception to seach for water… only to find this seemed to be the only drink out of stock?! This was never re stocked during the stay - surely in a hotel with no air con in 30c heat the hotel should at least be able to provide cold bottles of water? Due to staying at the hotel for a wedding, we didn’t want the aggravation of trying to look for another hotel to stay in for the 2 days (especially as we didn’t know the area). I was going to raise my concerns during check out, however, as we put the keys in the box to leave, not once did we even get a ‘thank you’ or ‘how was your stay’. We all come from hospitality backgrounds so to us this was completely unacceptable. I’ve contacted Premier Inn to pass on feedback, but so far no response…

We stayed here for a night before an early Channel Tunnel crossing. We stay in Premier Inns frequently and have never stayed in a bad one- until now. We were in the older building next to the pub. As soon as we walked in, I was overwhelmed by the smell of damp which got worse as we moved up the corridor- really musty and a smell of mould. Our family room was at the end of the corridor, on entry it stunk of damp. The window was open but it was horrendous. We asked for a room change and we moved to the room opposite which didn’t smell but was very hot and had no air con. As we were only staying for a bit and leaving at 5am, we put up with it but we won’t be returning.
