Aloft Florence

Dirty,Dirty,Dirty!!! I was so disgusted with the condition of this hotel. We arrived late after a long trip from Florida and a car that had a transmission problem once we arrived in Florence. The first room that was assigned to us had an extremely sticky floor. Toilet seat left in the up position and looked like the room was barely cleaned. After we brought this to the attention of the front desk person we were assigned to another room. Unfortunately the new room was just as dirty. There was tooth paste on the walls of the bathroom, hair all over the shower, a dried up contact lens on the bathroom floor and the room floor was very sticky.

I think this Aloft has been open over a year now. We stay in the area at least once a month visiting family. The location is perfect. I love Marriott and I always choose the newer hotel in an area. The convention center is directly across the street. We have stayed here many times. The ladies at the front desk are always pleasant. Rooms are clean. The rooms are NOT family friendly. You can see and hear everything in the restroom from the bedroom area. The panel behind the bed has cracks and the bottom panel is open. No privacy. Couples may be just fine. I don't usually complain but we didn't get a good nights sleep and had to check out EARLY in the morning due to the issues below. I mentioned these problems to the front desk and all I got was a "sorry". Here goes: If you get room 418, be careful. The safety lock has been removed, the housekeeper walked in on me and the sliding restroom door wasn't on the track correctly and I could have gotten stuck in there. Pictures provided. When we checked in around 2pm, we only had time to change clothes and leave. I was in the room about 10 mins changing clothes and housekeeping walked in on me. I asked why there wasn't a knock first. She said she was sorry and mentioned that the room should have been empty. Get this, I stay at Marriotts all over the world because I had something to do, I didn't notice there was not a privacy/safety lock. You know the lock that won't let someone in if you are sleep? We got back in about midnight. Tried to lock the room door, that's when we noticed the privacy lock was not there at all! We decided it's too late and we were too tired. Just put a suitcase in front of the door. Went to sleep. Around 3 am, used the restroom. Closed the restroom door for privacy. Could barely move it back open. When I finally got out, I couldn't believe it was stuck. It then slid completely closed. Could not open it again. Well we were tired. The other person had to use the restroom and because the door was stuck, he had to get dressed and walk downstairs to the public restroom. On the way back, talked to the person at the desk about it andwas told they can send someone later in the afternoon but not sure when. It was 5 am at that time. Final Straw: After having to walk downstairs to use the restroom, we realized that this was not going to be very convenient, we may as well checkout and go home. We didnt get any sleep. Mentioned all of these issues to the front desk clerk. Told her we were very concerned that we could not use the restroom in our room and had to leave before getting enough sleep due to the inconvenience. What a waste of money. She told us that they had to remove the lock on the doors because of the guests. That did not make a bit of sense to me. Are they doing this in all of the rooms or just some of them? She gave us an email address, told us to email the person and complain. She said she would try to let her manager know. That's it! Yes - This is a fairl

This is a pretty new hotel and was clean. It had an interesting aesthetic. I felt a little bit like I was in a skating rink from 1985. My big issue was the design of the wall between the bedroom and bathroom. I got up early to get a shower so my husband could sleep in, but the wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom had translucent glass in the wall and open space at the top, bottom and side of the wall. I have attached a picture. It was so bright shining on the bed that there was no way for him to sleep while I showered. We had a king room and it was just the two of us. I would have been really upset if I had small kids that needed to sleep but the light woke them up.

Wow and wow Very professional and clean. The best hotel stay ever.

The only issue we had was with the bathroom. There was only half roll of toilet paper, floor was dirty and there was rolled up paper in the corner. It was obvious that it was not cleaned before our check in.

Amazing hotel to stop by in middle of a long ride from Florida to NJ. A huge shout out to nighttime employee, Tawanda who checked us in so quickly but went out of her way to get a confirmed conference room reservation for 8am the next morning. All with a genuine smile
