Our family stayed here early July. First in a family villa and then in an exclusive villa. The villas were beautifully renovated, beds really comfortable and loved the indoor/outdoor feel with the covered terraces. Villas with a terrace facing west/north-west, and being located on the upper part of the resort closest to the main pool, will definitely catch the most sun this time of year, and at the same time be the most sheltered from the wind typically blowing from the south east. We were a bit apprehensive about visiting Mauritius during their winter, and although not hot, we found the temperatures perfect for a combination of beach/pool and excursions. Probably between 23 and 27C during the day. Heated pools were a must for us. Be aware that the two bedrooms of the family villas are not directly connected, but both open onto the pool terrace. We preferred the exclusive villas, even though this meant rollaway beds for the children in the living room. The rollaway beds fit behind the sofa, so we still had a fully functioning living room and plenty of space. The level of personal service at this resort is unparalleled; it feels less like a typical resort and more like being a cherished guest in a private retreat. The ambience is serene. Extremely relaxing, with an amazing beach and wonderful sunsets, but could definitely be too quiet for some. People seem to stay mostly in their villas, and there is little entertainment. Children are very welcome, and have lots of space to roam around - including a games room by the reception and tennis courts with an area with table tennis and bike rental, but we did not see any children in the kids club while we were there. Maradiva is perfectly located for excursions though. Easy access to roads leading up and down the coast, as well as inland. And being at the southern end of Flic en Flac beach, there are plenty of possibilities to walk out of the hotel for some change of atmosphere and other restaurants. However, the food at Maradiva sets the bar high!
