We first visited Moonfleet Manor 17 years ago with our then 2 year old daughter. What was still the same was the stunning location and the standard of the rooms but beyond that we were disappointed by the poor quality of the food, the service and lack of variety on the evening menu. In truth this is a hotel for parents and small kids and not for couples. The hotel is a 4 star family hotel not a four star in the usual sense. Although there is a good bar menu there is no bar. We regretted arranging dinner on the two nights we stayed, burger and chips and a measly sized steak frites on our second night both priced at over £30 were not good value. On our final morning we were served eggs Benedict on an untoasted muffin. Cold and disappointing. If you want a better overall experience I recommend a stay at The Pig on the Beach in Swanage.

What a wonderful time we had at Moonfleet Manor. As a family we found it superb with lots of things to do, especially for our 7 year old son who had an absolute blast. The games room was very popular as was the children’s cinema time. Food was good and the room was absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the Fleet.

Being my first trip away with me and my baby I wanted to go somewhere that I knew would cater to children and this did not disappoint The rooms are modern and really spacious. The first night I had issues with my shower and then following day I was given a new room with an upgrade. The room was huge! The hotel provide everything you need for a baby including cot, changing equipment, high chairs, buggy, childcare (I didn’t use this so can’t comment on how it was) and much more. The food was ok the pricey side but really tasty. One night my son was sleeping so they just deliver the food to your room instead. There was also a huge play den with so many activities for kids as well. P The staff were really helpful and friendly. The pool was lovely, I was the only one in it. It was so nice I ended up staying for an extra night. I couldn’t have asked for a better first trip for me and my son. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic holiday. It was our second time to the hotel group, after having a brilliant time in Fowey, we booked a trip with friends to moonfleet and it didn’t disappoint! The two bedroom room was great for us and our two girls and they both loved the four bears den. It was the first time we’d left our little one, but she had a great time, which allowed us to have a little bit of downtime! The food was great - and the staff were very attentive to mine and my daughter’s allergies. What (or, should I say who!) really made our trip was Cristian. He was outstanding and a real asset to the hotel and team. He went above and beyond for us, and his passion really shone through. He was thoughtful, fun, attentive and delivered exceptional service which made our evenings very special. Huge credit to him. We will be back - and probably working our way around all of the sister hotels!

WOW! What a way to spend your 40th Birthday. Being a special one I wanted to spend it with my family, but with kids of all ages, it’s sometimes hard to find somewhere that allows everyone to have a fun, memorable break. This was absolutely spot on! We had actually been here some years ago and walked away feeling it was shabby chic, with the emphasis on the shabby. It felt expensive and not value for money - but the concept was there. Fast forward 7 years and they have done the hotel up beautifully. The attention to detail was standout and the service and food spot on. Everyone was so friendly! We had The Swan for meal times and I was worried that as we were in a private dining room the service may suffer. This was not the case at all (Thanks to Izzy and Kai). It’s a beautiful room and it made my birthday even more special to all be in there together. After dinner we had a fun game of skittles with all the family enjoying themselves - although a little chilly in there so had to wrap up! The kids absolutely loved the play barn - even the 18 year old! Although our kids fends for themselves, for those with younger children, there is now an area where you can help yourself to hot drinks whilst watching your kids play - a great addition. We loved relaxing in The Lounge by an open fire sampling the cocktail list! We also enjoyed a family game of bingo which was great fun and we made use of the pool too - always a winner! We stayed in The Fleetview room Defoe. Beautifully decorated, coffee machine, a fridge and stunning views onto your own terrace. The kids loved the towels on arrival made into animal shapes, plus their own dressing gowns were a lovely touch! I would certainly recommend and worked well for us plus our 7 and 10 year old. The fleetview rooms on the ground floor can all work as one as the rooms are interconnecting - great for extended families! Shout out to Tracey and Gemma on reception - super helpful in planning this special getaway, thank you! Only thing I would say is that we would have preferred to sign as we went to keep track of our bill as you don’t get a receipt on ordering drinks and food, only at the end of your stay. Look, this isn’t a cheap getaway, but we knew this before we came so keep that in mind. However, despite the bill on check out I was left feeling it was money well spent and I will cherish the memories, you only live once. Here’s to next time! Thank you Moonfleet

Moonfleet Manor is a fun trip away for families but I wouldn’t say it hits that luxury mark. - The breakfast was awful to the point we ate somewhere else one breakfast - the buffet just isn’t luxury, the croissants were days old and the scrambled eggs were the worst I’ve ever had - the 3 pools aren’t really three pools. They’re one big pool split into 3 different depths and they were very cold! Far too cold for young children, ours were shivering after 10 mins - we tried to order scones at 5:01pm but they refused to serve them as they stop serving them at 5pm - you’d think a “luxury” hotel would be a bit more accommodating - they ran out of sticky toffee pudding in the evening which is a shame considering it was 8:30pm and is likely to be one of their most popular - there is also very little around there to do, the view of the spit is a bit sad and the walks surrounding are a bit boring It was clean and the majority of the staff were amazing. The kids story and movie times with milk and cookies were lovely and a great touch. I just wouldn’t say this hits the luxury mark!

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve stayed here, and it’s always a hit for the whole family—including our two kids, aged 4 and 8. It’s one of those places we all look forward to coming back to! Some of the highlights for us: The room: This time, we stayed in ‘John Gould,’ which was more than big enough for the four of us. The views of the fleet were beautiful, and the kids loved having the extra space. The entertainment: The verandah is packed with things to do—arcade games, a PS5, and even an indoor football pitch. The coffee machine is a nice touch (endless free caffeine—yes, please!), and the vending machine is a nice new addition perfect for grabbing a quick snack. We even managed to sneak in a game of squash this time. The food: The updated menu was great. Every meal we had was spot on, and the kids were happy too, which is always a win. The lounge areas: There’s always somewhere cozy to settle down often in front of an open fire. The staff are brilliant at checking if you need anything, which is a big plus because we rarely wanted to move! One of our favorite parts of the day was sitting by the fire with a glass of wine while the kids watched the movie playing in the next room. They made new friends, and of course, they couldn’t get enough of the free popcorn, cookies, and milk. And honestly, the staff here are what really make this place special. The reception team are always so welcoming and can’t do enough for you. The restaurant staff are fantastic too—they clearly take a lot of pride in what they do and are so good with the kids, whether it’s expertly dodging them on their way to the movie room or bringing over some toys or coloring to keep them entertained. A special shoutout to Karen and Christian—it was so nice to see them again. They’re such a credit to the hotel and made us feel so well looked after. Thank you all for another lovely pre-Christmas break. We’re already counting down to our next visit!
