If you really need to stay in the Fishkill area (as we did), I would 'shop around'. I am aware that lodging room rates are variable - more so than airline fares these days. But, the price we paid (in advance and non-cancelable/non-refundable) was outrageous for this hotel. We considered abandoning our portion of our non-refundable/non-cancelable prepayment after checking in and seeing the room. Located at the intersection of 2 major highways (US Rte. 9 and I84), it is a busy location for a small town, but the property was quiet. However, it is set back behind another hotel property that is under major renovations, reputedly for the past 3 years. This makes the access to the Hampton Inn somewhat confusing, especially at night. And, the views are - well, of construction and debris. Coupled with the $$$$$, the room, albeit 2 double beds, was shorter/narrower than I normally experience in a Hampton Inn. Actually, during this weeklong holiday trip to NY and NJ, we experience two Hampton Inns with room sizes akin to the old-style highway motel. Hilton has apparently decided to lower Hampton Inn standards from a comfortable mini-suite hotel to a pedestrian motel room at mini-suite prices. In the future, we will be searching for other Hilton-branded properties or a competitive brand. To throw acid into the above wound-of-disappointment and discomfort, this property provides housekeeping only every other day for long stays exceeding 2 days. An obvious cost-cutting, margin-improving move on the owner's part. The room was clean and not too "shop-worn" except for an upholstered easy chair which was extremely dirty. The staff were routinely friendly and helpful. The one and only plus. Goodbye Hampton Inn brand!
