We expected a quiet country get away to wake up on Saturday at 8am by building work on the site drilling and hammering ,electric saws. We hadn't been warned about it. The place needs a lot of TLC and cleaning. Plenty of spiders on the bedroom, one crawling on the pillow, on the bathroom etc. The place needs a good cleaning.extremelly disappointed 😞😞 def not going back

Friendly and helpful reception. Excellent room with good lighting, comfortable bed, very good shower and nice outlook (and quality biscuits!). Delicious meal. Lovely quiet location. All for an excellent price.

Sunday lunch booking made for later in the afternoon, 3.45pm. Not many people remaining in the restaurant at this time, so nice and quiet. Staff friendly and attentive. Food was really nice. Waitress asked regarding extra sauces. Meal came with plenty of meat, a giant yorkshire pudding and gravy already on the plate. Vegetables came separately. Really nice cauliflower cheese. Good size portions. Great value. Too full for dessert, unfortunately. However, there was a nice choice and were at a reasonable price. Bill came with 10% gratuity already included, which although everything was fine, we like to make our own choice regarding gratuities, not it just be added onto the bill.....that's my only gripe about the experience. All in all, nice place with great food 😋

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch. Staff were on point and very attentive. The atmosphere was warming and ambient. The sticky toffee pudding is a must. The best I’ve ever had 🥰 Will definitely return again. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience x

Disappointed with the overall appearance of the room, the chairs were uncomfortable, there was not enough space for toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the food was good but they ran out of milk on our second morning, no cerial and uht in our tea. So unprofessional.

Visited for afternoon tea, what a wonderful experience, lovely surroundings, accompanied by a fantastic afternoon tea, there is a choice of savoury or traditional. John was very attentive the tea was served with a lovely choice of sweet and savoury, the freshly baked scones melted in your mouth, everything on the plate was delicious, highly recommended.

Lovely location, looks great when you drive in. The positives first, the reception and restaurant are very nice and staff are friendly. However, that’s where it ends. The room I was in was in a “lodge”, they appear to be units fitted into a wooden lodge, they call them “stable” rooms. There were 3 single rooms in the lodge I was in. Now I feel I was very lucky because the one night I was there the other rooms were not booked but I can only imagine how noisy it would be if all rooms were occupied. That said, the unit inside was very clean, outside was awful, spiders webs all over the doors, window. I understand it’s out in the country but a brush down now and again would be beneficial. No wifi at all out of the main building, apparently a “recent” issue. Dogs everywhere, barking so again, nothing against dogs but irresponsible owners just letting them bark with no thought for other guests. Not somewhere I would return to.

This lovely setting, which is a joy to behold, has a dark secret or two. First, and it's still a secret, that after waiting 40 minutes for our food, the 'chef' came and apologised for the delay and warned of a further 20 minutes delay. That turned into 35 minutes. The secret is, why, when there were only 6 other people in the entire restaurant??? Worse still, the food was simply awful. There is no other way to describe it, or try to be kind to it. It was simply dreadful. We had dry, overcooked burgers that probably had never seen salt nor pepper, let alone any other herb, spice or flavouring to help it onto a plate. Bland, would be kind. The unfortunate roll in which it came, was a cheap supermarket version that stuck to the roof of your mouth. The 'hand cut' chips were not in the least crispy, but dry and tasted like cardboard. To accompany this disaster, was another! Red cabbage (only!) 'coleslaw' that had more vinegar than mayo. In 50 years of eating out, I can honestly state this was probably the worse meal I've ever had. I didn't pay for my meal and should not have paid for anything else either, but we were with friends and it was bad enough without making further, albeit well deserved fuss! Back in the 70's, Britain had a terrible reputation around the world for the quality of food available when eating out. It was like going back in time! NEVER again shall I visit this place!
