Occidental Faro

Unfortunately disappointing – not 4-star standard Our stay at this hotel was anything but relaxing, and we're glad we only stayed there for a few days. Upon entering our room, we noticed a strong smell of chlorine and damp – it was almost unbearable. We immediately informed reception and asked for a different room. The answer was that everything was fully booked and we should ask again the next morning. A chambermaid was sent, but apart from an air freshener, nothing had changed. Upon closer inspection, we even discovered mold spots around the window – an absolute no-go! When we reported this to reception again, they initially appeared surprised but then asked us to wait 30 minutes. Afterward, we were given another room – fortunately without mold, but with significantly worse amenities than originally booked. It was also very noisy: As early as 7 a.m., we could hear chairs being moved from the breakfast room above us. Due to the central location in the city, a lot of noise also penetrated the room from outside. Relaxation was hardly an option. Other negative points: The rooftop pool is far too small for the number of guests. The advertised beach, while beautiful, is only accessible via a 20-minute shuttle. The breakfast is acceptable, but by no means 4-star. The hotel looks modern and inviting from the outside, but the interior is in dire need of renovation. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel – it certainly does not meet the standards you would expect when booking.

In the center of Faro! The restaurant on the fourth floor of the hotel has a great view! You can see the whole town of Faro! The breakfast is also OK! It is a four-star hotel! But Faro is not worth visiting! There is no good view! It is only suitable for a break from Lisbon to Seville
