Hogs Back Hotel & Spa

Good hotel with some great views from their garden. The perfect place for an evening drink as the sun sets. The facilities include a swimming pool which is an added bonus. Breakfast was a reasonable price and offered a very good range. Only downside was due to a party in the room next door. This of course was not the hotels fault however getting through to their customer services about this matter and getting things sorted was not the most straight forward process. Would I stay again? Yes.

Service was appalling, the beds were so uncomfortable my back is in bits, I had an air conditioning unit outside my window which was going all night sounded like a plane and there is a motorway outside the hotel so we could hear cars all night and when I told the receptionist all I got was, ok!, very rude staff don’t like to chat what so ever, I definitely won’t be going back! There as also sick outside the reception entrance from last night to this morning which wasn’t a pleasant sight

Great location and spa

Very close to the busy A31 road so some may be disturbed by the road noise, depending on the room location. Parking ‘permits’ must be acquired at reception -easy enough to do but not really convinced it adds to the guest experience. Mistakes may be Very costly. Leisure facilities were fine. Restaurant offering basic but reasonable. 2 course dinner offer for £10 very good value….. especially when brekkies are £12. !

Okay night cold rooms

I spent a total of three days at the Hotel whilst on a work trip which included needing some time to do computer based work in the evenings. It turned out to be the perfect place to stay. A comfortable and quiet room with all the facilities you could ask for, a great breakfast with friendly staff and a kind of 'make yourself at home' feel about the place. I did not use the restaurant as I was working late but did enjoy pie and mash ordered from the bar area one evening, (along with a pint), and both went down a treat. There is a health spa there too so next time I will remember to pack my swim shorts. All in all it was an extremely pleasant stay and I saved money by booking through Trip.com too.

It is always nice to come here, we always use the sauna and swimming pool when visiting which is very relaxing.

Lovely clean well presented hotel Staff are enthusiastic and very friendly nothing is too much trouble. Some road noise can be heard but there are quieter areas at the back of the hotel. There is no lift The rooms are good . with tea coffee facilities even included decaf tea as well as coffee. hairdryer.iron and board and a fan . The beds are comfortable The bathrooms have all soaps and shampoo provided and these are nice and pleasant smelling The linen was soft and fluffy. There is no AC this was not a problem even though when we stayed temperatures were 21 farenheit we opened the window and used a fan. There is no daily housekeeping but if this is required you can ask. The restaurant served breakfast and dinner. We only had breakfast which was good buffet with a wide selection . Although the bacon was a bit of a let down as it was dried out and leathery. My husband has a GF diet and this was no trouble and was catered for. The pool and spa is good size although if you have walking difficulties this could be a problem as access to the pool area was down some steep steps. I enquired as to how a disabled person could use the facilities and was told access is from outside. Whilst there is an accessible shower and toilet on the pool level there is no changing facilities. The pool has steps down into it. The spa bath has 1 large step up 16 inches to get in and another 2 steep steps to sit down. Each step about 16 inches which I had difficulties with. The sauna has a small step into it . The steam room is on a level. The children's pool has no steps leading into it and I found it difficult to enter this area. As it's a large step down into it. About 24 inches and there are no hand rails. Overall we had an enjoyable stay here and would stay again.
