The Princess Royal

The room was so cold, I have arthritis and really suffered. Spoke to the desk twice but nothing was done.

Facilities good, service terrible. As overseas visitors, we’re were told this was a must stay on our trip. After a long day in transit, we arrived @ 8:45pm and were delighted to be in time for dinner, knowing that the restaurant closed at 9pm. As we hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and seeing a busy restaurant, we were really looking forward to it. Kept waiting for over 5 minutes at the counter to check in, which was fine. However, when we asked if we could throw our bags into our rooms so we could get a table for dinner, we were told that the kitchen was closed. Asked if there was anything they could do to accommodate us, they flatly refused and said there was nothing. Clearly the restaurant wasn’t closed, as there were several tables who still had unused cutlery still awaiting meals. Made it to our rooms with our luggage at 5 to 9pm, tired, hungry and upset. Would have happily relaxed and unwound in the bar until closing. Had to then drive once again into Farnham town to source food. Luckily found a fantastic Italian restaurant ‘The Barn Bistro’ who happily accommodated us, where we spent approximately €200. Came back to an adequate room, with semi-comfortable beds (personal choice). Heads up to anyone travelling with large/heavy luggage, thankfully we were on the ground floor but it would have been a nightmare to cart upstairs. Went to breakfast next day - standard fare. Nice staff however unknowable about their own menu. Ordered a meal, was delivered with item missing. When questioned, staff looked confused and checked menu, then promptly brought missing item. Disappointment could have been avoided if we hadn’t been made to feel like unwanted guests at the beginning.
