Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns

The staff were vet grumpy, and did not make one feel welcome from the reception, restaurant and bar person, they were working on what was important to them not the customer.

I have to say, we had the best night at this hotel. Check-in was pleasant and not rushed, the room was comfortable as was the bed. There was a fan in the room, and I feel confident that we could have had another had we asked for it. We went through early to eat and I have to say the service by the staff was spot, pleasant, friendly and knowledgable. Food when it came was beautiful, all cooked fresh - my husband loves a good pie, and he said it was the best pie he'd had in quite some time, full and tasty. Dessert - sticky toffee pudding for him, which I could smell from across the table, mine the eton mess which they took the strawberries out of for me. Breakfast the following morning was again spot on, freshly cooked and plenty of it - the only thing I would say would be to go a bit earlier so there are plenty of pastries on offer. Staff again were wonderful. I have a bit of thing about staff in chain pubs and knowing how low they are generally paid I understand that attitudes can be a bit poor, but they are in hospitality so should be more friendly, here at the Red Lion no issues what so ever, staff all friendly smiles on their faces, and couldnt do enough for you. Have already recommended and would definately stay again when visiting family.

attended for family reunion alison and elizabeth where very welcoming and provided excellent service food was amazing as always and service was excellent clean and tidy and thank you both for a very enjoyable lunch will definitely come again

Easy 1 night stay. Myself and my husband stayed for one night as I had a training course with the Coastguard and he visited a friend. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was basic but comfortable. Would recommend. Thank you

Had a few drinks and shared starters in the bar with friends, served by Julie and Jenna who were both funny, friendly and overall lovely staff, would definitely recommend and would 100% come again! Lovely pub with a great atmosphere and top tier food.
