This would have once been a very nice hotel but now it is looking very tired and in need of some tlc. Saying that our room and bathroom was very clean. It’s 10-15 minute walk into town. Website does say toiletries supplied but they weren’t any. Breakfast was fine although the sausages were very low quality. I would suggest that the price was a bit high for what you get. If you aren’t looking for anything too smart and upmarket this hotel is acceptable for a nights stay. Lady serving breakfast was very friendly and chatty.

Just back from truly excellent afternoon tea. Great personal choice of sandwiches, huge scrumptious scones, generous cakes, plenty of tea and coffee, topped off with delightful individual bottles of Prosecco. All served by helpful and friendly waitress. Many thanks for a birthday treat, and will be back.

Now for one I had read the reviews prior and was a bit skeptical and my grandparents had told me to be a bit skeptic aswell about staying here, we travelled from south east England to see our family, the hotel was lovely, don’t get me wrong it’s a bit outdated, the beds are comfy and had an excellent night sleep after travelling 4 hours, and the traffic outside didn’t bother us at all but we are heavy sleepers aha, rooms are decently clean, could do with a bit more thorough round the bathroom, but to be fair it’s not a huge deal. The breakfast in my opinion in agreeance with my girlfriend was spot on, food was hot and cooked perfectly. Couldn’t have had a better breakfast in a hotel. I think the tv included in the room is a bit small but that’s being REALLY fussy and isn’t a big deal at all. Staff have been lovely and welcoming so no complaints there, overall it’s a great hotel with just a few tweaks that could turn it into a 5 star but overall we loved it, we’ve got a few more days left but so far we are enjoying it, please don’t take the reviews too seriously as it is a matter of opinion, if your the snobbish type it may not be for you but if your someone who just likes a comfy bed bathroom and some cracking food, this is the right place to attend :)

We had a lovely afternoon tea here last week. Fresh sandwiches and scones plus a selection of cakes. You can choose from a variety of teas, coffees or hot chocolate but we were only offered tea or coffee. I didn’t realise about the hot chocolate until I read other reviews after. These are also unlimited which wasn’t made clear. Would go back though. Staff were friendly.

We used this establishment twice in January one was for an evening meal which was really good we had starter and main meal plus drinks which cost about £45 for two people. With the quality and the taste of the food it was a steal. Our waitress on the evening was very good and helpful and took and helped with our order. She was always available for any extra requirements like drinks Would recommend anyone to eat here. After the very successful meal I decided to treat my wife to a afternoon tea. Yes you have a selection of about 6 different sandwiches to choose from. And these are good but the scones where warm but I don't think they were fresh just heated up. And the cakes where all shop bought which was disappointing when they have some fantastic cooks. Afternoon tea feels to me like it is an inconvenience for them as it was very difficult to get service for simple things like extra tea and when you do get service it them took 25 minutes for them to produce the tea. They ether need to drop this service and concentrate on the good quality food they supply or promote the Afternoon tea more to get more customers in by doing it right I am afraid I would have to score the afternoon tea no more that 2 stars while the dinner experience would definitely be a 5 star experience The other issue with this establishment is that the windows allow a lot of cold air in which makes it very cold while sitting next to them. Although I like looking out the window I would recommend sitting as far away from the windows as possible.

Quality and quantity of the food is highly recommended. Staff are so helpful and attentive. Very reasonably priced. One of the best mushroom & halloumi burgers I've had in a long while. All 6 of us friends agreedthat we will definitely be coming back

Arrived here in a group of eight on a Monday Evening having booked a couple of days earlier only to find that they had no record of us? However they coped admirably and special mention must go to the young Chef (18 today) and the barmaid who had a brilliant sense of humour despite obviously expecting an easy night! The food was brilliant and not too pricey and drinks reasonable. Would recommend and definitely visit again if we’re in the area!
