I love the food at the Solent Hotel and the staff at the restaurant are very attentive indeed . However I have one huge disappointment and that is the tipping . This is discretionary which means I have a choice to tip if service is good . I choose to take it off wherever I go so , as a customer I have the choice to tip who I want with cash . I understand card tips are distributed they say fairly between staff . But if I give a cash tip I feel that’s my choice to give to whoever I chose and I would expect they are allowed to keep that money and not to be told to hand it in to management or they could face losing their jobs . Cash tips are allowed and this should be for the customer to decide who has it . There is no strict policy on cash tips for the hotel to take control of these that I see reading government website .

This hotel is so relaxing and pleasant. The food at the restaurant is sooo excellent for the price. I would recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure. The staff are amazingly helpful and the rooms wonderful, with the food a particular highlight

Was there for a friend's wedding this last weekend. The room was booked in the incorrect name for starters which is fair enough, and an easy mistake to make. We learnt that the pool would not be available for use despite it being included in the price paid. When this point was raised we received a pair of free drinks vouchers (and free ice cream for the youngster) which was appreciated and better than nothing. When claiming the second drinks voucher, the gent behind the bar blatantly asked which drink the voucher was to be used against in the order, then proceeded to charge us for all three of the drinks regardless 😄 That is unless a glass of coke is £7. The breakfast was very fancy in presentation but hot drinks and cooked items just seemed to go cold quickly. The room was fine and clean with a good shower but budget hotels offer the same. Just came away feeling as though it was an expensive one night's stay.

This was anything but a spa break. Room was dirty and run down. Jacuzzi not working, pool area messy and unwelcoming. Paid £250 and in honesty wasn't worth £50. Attempted to give hotel a chance to remedy but even after agreeing to issues refused partial refund.

I was truly grateful for the efforts the staff made to make my birthday special during our two-night spa break. This was, without a doubt, our best visit over the years. Many thanks! The surroundings were beautiful, and the staff was incredibly helpful. Even the weather added to the experience, enhancing the overall ambiance. We were especially glad the forecasted rain didn't appear, which made the trip even more enjoyable.

Just found out that pool is about to be refurbished and will be closed from 23rd September. I only found out my mistake about this. The hotel have made no attempt to contact people and let them know claiming that they only found out yesterday (14th September) They have refunded but no apology was offered. Really disappointing
