Solent Hotel and Spa

my stay was very enjoyable, however wasn't aware that parking was now chargeable which is a bit of a let down.

Great food and service

We chose this hotel as part of a stay-and-cruise package, meaning we could park our car for the duration of our time away and get transfers to and from the port in Southampton. We arrived slightly early for check-in so we waited in the bar area for a short while until our room was ready. The room itself was perfect for what we needed overnight: large, airy, and two, double beds for us and the children. There was a tv, mini fridge, wifi, safe, storage space and a decent en suite. Air conditioning worked well and there were tea and coffee making facilities. The children had some snacks and activity packs which was a nice touch and even had their own robes for the spa. The spa was a decent size, with pool, very shallow children’s pool, hot tubs, steam rooms, sauna and storm shower. Overall, it was very impressive. The grounds were nice and there was a children’s discovery trail to do, too. Other facilities included a hot tub and tennis courts as well as bbq areas. We didn’t use the bar and restaurant in the evening as we had the children but we were able to take drinks back to the room. The hotel is also nearby a shopping and leisure area with plenty of well-known, chain restaurants (5 min drive) and a supermarket (5 min walk) Breakfast the next day was impressive, with a large amount of buffet options and specials to choose for order. Overall, everything ran like clockwork and was an exceptionally pleasant stay. We would certainly consider using this hotel again when cruising out of Southampton.

The small details are amazing - the fresh milk machine and the water cooler in the corridor. Having a fridge and coffee machine in your room, the lovely White Company toiletries all made the room feel more comfortable and luxurious. I don’t use them, however the hair straighteners ceramic tray is a great idea, also I discovered the sleep items (eye mask, ear plugs and pillow spray) in the wardrobe. The robes are soft and comfy. We had good nights sleep in the comfortable bed. The little table and chairs are useful. The aircon was welcomed as it was a warm night. All of the staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient, the receptionist on checkout (Angie) all the room cleaning staff and the spa treatment ladies. A special mention to our 1st night evening meal waitress Darcey. She was fun and personable, a great asset to the hotel! All the staff in the clean and beautiful spa area were great. We had a couple of treatments and I felt so relaxed after them!! The pool, steam room, spa pool and surrounding areas are well kept. Breakfast is buffet style with toast and hot drinks ordered and brought to your table. There are specials, too, we ordered eggs Benedict one morning, due to staff being busy it did take 30 mins so be prepared if you are rushing out for the day. Just a couple of feedback comments, although, did not detract from the amazing stay at all and we would definitely stay at Solent Hotel again. -Although I did put the shower curtain in the bath as per the note it still leaked over the floor, the way the shower curtain rail is curved the curtain sticks to you and with the safety hand rail on the wall there isn’t a lot of room and I kept knocking my elbow! -The lighting in the room wasn’t good for applying make up, maybe a light near the desk, over the mirror? -The room could really do with a separate light over the tea/coffee making area as you have put on the main room lights. We had a really pleasant, relaxing stay and highly recommend this hotel!
