La Table Alsacienne

We have been looking for a hotel in a small village on the way home from Switzerland and came across La Table Alsacienne and we were attracted by the reviews of their restaurant. We arrived at the hotel at about 17.00 only to find the shutters down and all the doors locked. It was a really hot day and we were in real need of a cold beer but we were told by the neighbours opposite that the hotel would not be open until 18.00 and there was no bar in the village. We would have to drive out of the village to the commercial centre to get a drink! We returned at 18.00 and we were lucky enough to be able to park outside the hotel. There are just 2 parking spaces. If I remember rightly there is another space for a disabled driver. There is, however, a car park about 50 yards down the road so parking is not a problem. The room was very well appointed with everything you could need including a kettle which is very unusual in France. We ate at the hotel of course and the food was excellent. It obviously has a very good reputation as the restaurant was full of locals on a Wednesday night. That has to be the best recommendation. Breakfast was also very good. The lady of the house was very friendly and helpful but not overly intrusive which is just what you want. All in all a good stay which would have got 5 stars had someone been there to greet us when we arrived.
