I have lost count of the number of times I have stayed at The Pheasant over the last 20 years, the last three years as a solo guest. After so many years, I consider the Kershaw family as good friends and I am always sure of a hearty welcome. However, from observation and in chatting to people, I can say that the warm welcome and the standard of service is definitely not just reserved for regular and returning guests, of which there are many. The bars and dining room are clean and bright, the food excellently cooked and the menu varied enough to suit most tastes. All is locally sourced as far as possible. The bar is very well stocked with well-kept beers and a huge choice of whiskies. Plenty of choice in the gin department, also! My room, # 3, was ideal for me. The bed was very comfortable and the view over the valley to the hills beyond is gorgeous. The shower was a bit temperamental though! A great holiday as always.

The staff were welcoming and tried their hardest to please with very good all round service. The food was excellent with a very good choice at both dinner and breakfast. Far better thsn many 4* hotels. The bedroom wasw small, but had everything we needed with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. An ideal location, in the country, but withing striking distance of a wide range of different facilities/activities. A lovely stay and somewhere we hope to return to.

Absolutely outstanding food here & would highly recommend a visit!!! Best pub food we have eaten in a long while. We will definitely be back & the Pimm’s drink was so good 😊 The nettle cheese was divine. Well worth of a michelin star 🌟 crevettes for starters was delicious 🤤 & my partner had crab pasta which was also delicious

Really nice stay ,staff pleasant & helpful.Room comfortable & clean .Evening meal & breakfast enjoyable maybe a few more GF choices would have been nice as did put it on the booking form also a GF biscuit in the room on the drinks tray but didn’t spoil our stay & would stay again if in the area.

Wonderful stay at The Pheasant. Looked after us well, very friendly service, great food and the rooms were immaculate. We stayed here for a friend’s wedding and were very impressed. The staff were lovely. Only thing I would recommend would be a little bell on the bar as could sometimes be waiting a while for someone to see you arrive. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent everything except our room was a little small. Other than that we could not fault anything else. Food, Staff, etc was one of the best hotels I have stayed in since staying in hotels during my working life in Europe and especially in the UK. Do not change.
