The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi

My wife and I visited the Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi for 9 nights at the end of October. This trip was a delayed celebration of our 35th anniversary, which was in June. This was the first time we had visited this part of the world! The resort staff were very helpful as far as communicating and answering my numerous questions prior to our visit, and provided clear instructions for us. Upon landing in Male, we collected our luggage, and after exiting the baggage claim area we saw a group of representatives for a number of resorts. No one from the Residence was there, but we were assured that he would be there soon, and shortly Saifan showed up, greeted us warmly, and guided us through the check in process for Maldivian Airlines, then led us to a lounge where we could wait the hour or so to board our flight. He returned in time to escort us to the gate, and said he'd see us in nine days! The domestic flight only lasted an hour, but as we were already travel weary it seemed much longer! We were being diverted to an island an hour away from Falhumaafushi , by speedboat as the runway at the closer island was under repair. There were three couples on our flight traveling to The Residence, and we all had our bags put on hand carts and made the short walk to the dock where our water chariot awaited. It was completely dark, so the boat ride didn't provide much of a sightseeing experience, but the blanket of stars in the sky was amazing! When we arrived, we were helped off of the boat and onto a dock,(on the adjacent sister island Dhigurah) and were taken by buggy (golf cart) to our villa. We stopped briefly at the Reception building, where Summer, the on duty reservations attendant, joined us. She explained that we would normally go through the check in process there, but since it was so late, and our travel day had been so long, she would accompany us to the villa for that - how thoughtful! Being that it was still low season, some of the facilities that exist on both islands were not open full time. For instance, the dining room on "F" was open for breakfast and lunch only, and the one on "D" for breakfast and dinner. Fortunately, the dining room on "D" was still open so we caught a buggy ride there and back, and had our first meal at the resort! We awoke the next morning to stunning beauty from the deck of our water villa! As we had our morning beverages we watched turtles, stingrays, fish, and sharks swim through our "back yard". Then we got on our bicycles (which we loved!) and rode to breakfast, then explored the two islands a bit.The all inclusive package we had booked included some dinners and lunches at the specialty restaurants, and we had a lunch booked for that first full day, but early on we decided that we'd rather eat casual for lunch, so we canceled both of the specialty lunches that we had reserved ahead of time. Now that I've set the stage I'll just comment on the various aspects of this vacation from our perspective. Ha

The Falhumaa restaurant is a wonderful place to sit and watch the sea scape especially at night. The sea beneath the restaurant, which is at the end of a long jetty, is illuminated. Turtles and black fin reef sharks are a common sight. All this adds to the ambiance of a wonderful restaurant. I believe that the quality of the food and the impeccable service would be Michelin stared if it were in Europe. The chef Ashish Domee and his team are rightly proud of the ingredients they use and the food they produce. This restaurant needs to be booked, don’t miss a wonderful experience.

Amazing experience we had my wife and myself for a week staying in THE RESIDENCE MALDIVES. The facilities and the place is superb. I cant forget to mention the amazing treat of the staff there since first minute of arrival. After being several times in Maldives I trully recommend choosing THE RESIDENCE for an amazing stay in Maldives.

Fantastic! Wonderful! Beautiful! Amazing! Unreal! Extraordinary! Sublime! The reviews that I read about The Residence Maldives were spot on. This place is hands down, one of the best, most beautiful places we have ever been. Starting from the time our plane arrived in Male at 11:00pm, we were taken care of and handed off smoothly from one transportation mode to the next. The staff at Falhumaafushi and Dhigurah are FANTASTIC. Even though we could see that they greeted each guest with care and recognition, they made us feel like the only guests there. The grounds are impeccably kept and the landscape is lush, tropical and beautiful. The amenities (pool, restrooms and restaurants) were clean and extremely well maintained. The food was incredible. The Italian Restaurant was good but the Chinese Restaurant food was out of this world. We had breakfast at the Dining Room each morning at Falhumaafushi and dinner at the Dhigurah Dining Room). We were never disappointed. And that's saying a lot because my husband is a super picky eater. He loved everything! A signature moment was on Friday night at the manager's cocktail at sunset on the beach next to the bridge that connects Dhigurah to Falhumaafushi. We were greeted (like old friends) by the executive chef, Afish, who befriended my husband at the fitness center earlier that day. There were yummy appetizers, cocktails and native dancers who plucked guests from the crowd and brought them to the staging area to dance with them. All of this set to the back drop of the most stunning sunset that we've ever seen (shades of bright orange, red and lavender kissing the horizon). Special thank you to Hafiz (Dhigurah Dining Room Manager) who made us feel extra special. Thank you to Sajif who always stopped by our table to chat like were were old friends. The hostess at Dhigurah Dining Room (can't remember her name) was so kind and welcoming to us at each dinner. I didn't take the names of the Dining Room staff at Falhumaafushi but I want to say a special thank you to all of them for treating us with such care. We will definitely be back.

The restaurant is very beautiful and offers an exceptional experience. I enjoyed the experience a lot and I will come back again. I am from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I thank the manager Ibrahim. His treatment was very classy. He is the best manager I have dealt with. He did not make me need anything. Thank you for everything he has provided me with.

We booked a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Maldives coming from Australia. This place was amazing. The staff went above and beyond and the resort was perfect for what we were looking for. The sea life was epic with turtles and fish swimming right below our villa. We loved just riding the bikes around the 2 islands and exploring different spots to snorkel. The food was great. If/when we go back to the Maldives it will be almost impossible not to come stay at this same resort.
