I came here for diving. The surrounding ecological environment is very good and there are many sharks. Although the accommodation environment is not good, there is no fresh water or hot water (this is what we all knew before coming), but it is all worth it for the sharks. The staff are very nice and the food is better than expected. Our dive guide Lola was great!

Tetamanu Village boasts an absolutely exceptional setting: located on the edge of Fakarava's southern pass, it's a true paradise for diving enthusiasts. The underwater wildlife is spectacular, with a rare density and diversity. The diving is simply magical. But unfortunately, that's the only positive aspect. From the moment we arrive, the tone is set: transfer from the airport in a 4x4, in a converted trunk. It's folkloric... until a suitcase falls off the trailer during the journey, while the driver is on the phone. We continue with a 1.5-hour boat ride, fortunately with a friendly captain—but who doesn't hesitate to warn us that his boss is "unreliable" and advises a family to buy bottled water for their children. A surprising piece of advice at the time... but one that will make perfect sense later. Upon arrival at the village, we are welcomed with a friendly drink. We were told that the bell rang at 7am, 12pm, and 7pm to announce meals—served buffet-style. The problem: there was only one table for all the bungalows. One day, when we arrived at 12:30pm, there was almost nothing left to eat… Accommodation-wise, it was very disappointing. Questionable electricity with bare wires visible near the sink. Mosquito nets with holes. No soap in the rooms, not even at the buffet for washing hands. The atmosphere was rustic… which would be acceptable if it weren’t so neglected. After 3 days, the running water became almost unusable: very low flow, nauseating odor. And then came the “discoveries”: The water bottles were refilled with “filtered” rainwater (we seriously doubted the condition of the filter). In the kitchen, dishwashing liquid was sometimes missing… replaced by laundry detergent, according to our observations. No opportunity for snacks or snacks. If you're hungry, you'll have to crack a coconut yourself. 👉 Fortunately, the on-site staff are lovely, do their best, and deserve a shout-out. They're the ones who save this stay from a zero score. In short: avoid the accommodation, but come and enjoy the South Pass in a different way. Take a day trip or spend a night to see the Napoleon Wrasse under the restaurant and dive in the shark wall. But for an extended stay: no. The experience is clearly not worth the price.

A picture-perfect landscape, wonderful people. The dive guides Alex, Miti, and Jean 💪🏻 exceeded expectations. The village is very beautiful and clean, you can fully experience village life. I can't describe the colors found underwater.
