Our stay was absolutely stunning, the lodge is so private and has stunning views of the rolling hills of the Chilterns. The hot tub was a perfect size and temperature and the hammock is so relaxing in the morning. The lodge has everything you need and is really comfy and the design is really coherent with the natural environment. The spec inside is high quality - from the Denby plates to the cozy fireplace. Rachel was really friendly and welcoming and checked the pH and chlorine levels and topped up our hot tub water every morning and gave us local recommendations. We made fantastic memories here and had a really tranquil stay in beautiful nature. Ps there were loads of cool birds to see!

We visited with our son and his wife - they were in Chaucer and we were next door in Copse. We began our two night break by meeting for lunch in The Shepherds Hut. Huge portions and a really friendly pub. (Mention you're staying at Chilterns View to get a free glass of prosecco each! ) Chaucer has it's own parking space next to the lodge but my husband and I loaded up a trolley and followed the path to Copse. Everything as expected - a very comfortable space, good shower, lovely hot tub and everything you need for a relaxing break. The views are amazing! Moon to the front and sunset round the corner at the back! We saw rabbits, a deer, pheasants and several red kites from the decking. Other than a wander into the village for an ice cream, we just read and relaxed, meeting up to eat and play cards in the two evenings! We didn't see anyone else - even Rachel the owner. She is very responsive to messages when we had a query though. There were other guests, but they were just distant voices. Im sure we'll return.

For peace, beauty, privacy and luxury in a countryside setting you can’t improve on The Chilterns View. Amazing scenery, functional and beautifully designed lodges and a fantastic host all make for a really lovely break away from it all . Endless pretty villages to visit, pubs on the Thames, local produce to eat & drink, fragrant hedgerows, secret paths, super comfy bed, your own hot tub…. I think the pictures tell you all you need to know. This year was our second visit. About to book our third.

I have already left 2 reviews on Google and the hotel website but I cannot stop raving about this place. We went with my partner for 2 nights and it was the most relaxing getaway I have ever done. We stayed in the Pheasants Flight Lodge which was so lovely and cosy! The hot tub and BBQ were put to use and we more than enjoyed the wonderful views. The lodges are so private and calm that it truly felt like we were the only ones there. Once more, I cannot recommend this and if you are looking for a getaway full of tranquility and warmth, this is your sign to book now.

Red kites soaring above, pheasants strutting by and the larks cascading song filling the air, this really is an idyllic spot to get away from it all. The sunset and dark night sky, the dawn chorus with all the comforts of a well appointed lodge including a hot tub and quality linens provide the quality of a very good hotel. A place to dial down the social media and dial up your senses and and tune into how awesome our nature is - uninterrupted. This is a very special place and we will be back.

A unique & truly outstanding location, in the rural Oxfordshire countryside - a hide gem like no other. The host is accommodating & extremely welcoming. I can personally recommend ‘Ridgeway’ lodge - absolutely fantastic view’s, incredibly comfortable & very private. If quintessential Oxfordshire countryside is what you are looking with a dash of high class within a short drive of Oxford city centre, the Chiltern lodge couldn’t come more highly recommend. Its unique & very much recommended.

I'm not one to generally write a review but i think this stay was worth it, to start the location of these lodges is stunning, lovely views over the chilterns and fabulous to watch the sun setting. When we arrived we parked in the car park grabbed a caddy and walked to our lodge (Dingle Dell) upon entering we were pleasantly surprised, the lodge was immaculately clean and Rachel had kindly left a good amount of supplies in the lodge for our use,(Eggs, Milk, Tea, Coffee, Biscuits, Jam, Soap, shampoo ect...) The hot tub was warm and clean ready for use on our arrival, the firewood was well stocked and easy to light with the provided matches and lighters. i have given only 4/5 starts for this stay because there were a few niggles i would like to see resolved before i upgrade to 5 star. these were: - The main locked door to secure the lodge (Dingle Dell) would not lock correctly the door was not secured to the floor and top of frame allowing it to be pulled open without using the key. this i assume is isolated to the Dingle dell lodge only? The walk to the lodge from the car park wasn't lit in any fashion. this made it particularly treacherous and spooky in the darkness when only using the phone torch to be able to find our way through, the infrastructure is there for the lighting but wasn't being used. The kitchen windows had no blinds, in the complete darkness you expect from such a private and secluded lodge this for me is an essential item as looking out into the darkness and knowing someone could be looking back without your knowledge is a bit spooky. Maybe this is just me that has this issue but thought it was worth mentioning. Finally there was some building improvements happening to the lodge next to us during our stay however the noise was kept to a minimum and only during normal "Day" hours as not to disturb later on, appreciate that there is never a good time to do this work and balancing doing the improvements with still retaining income from other lodges is necessary, just slightly annoying when this happens during your own stay. Overall this place is self is beautiful and it is obvious that Rachel works very hard to provide the experience we had. at its current price point (£720 for 3 night stay - Fri-Mon - weekend) i would find it hard to return, If resolved the issues Lighting/Door lock/Blind ect.. And was around the £600 mark i would return every year. If you are thinking of staying i would say give it a go, unless you are scared of the dark.

We enjoyed a wonderfully rejuvenating 3-night stay in late June at the Ridgeway Lodge. The Chilterns View lodges certainly ticked all the boxes for us in terms of a scenic, blissful couples’ retreat. Rachel is a really thoughtful hostess/owner and has planned her lodges to provide peace, solitude and total relaxation for her guests. She has carefully considered how to eliminate stress so that you can maximise the enjoyment of your stay. The lodge itself was immaculately clean and beautifully presented upon our arrival. The lodges are stocked with the essentials but with a few smart extras - the kitchenette is supplied with salt, pepper, olive oil, balsamic, tea and coffee (and some biccies), under the sink there was some washing up liquid, cleaning cloths and tea towels and in the fridge there was a pint of milk. And of course there are the farm eggs which are freshly delivered – in two senses! The BBQ was stocked with coal bags and ready to be fired up. We were fortunate enough to catch a weekend of half-decent weather in this truly dismal summer so we were able to make full use of all the outdoor space. I suppose it might feel a little claustrophobic if you were stuck inside every day but we were able to eat and drink outside long into the sunny summer evenings. Of course, each lodge has the additional perk of having its own hot tub – which was very clean and at the perfect temperature whenever we wanted to hop in. On one of our days we took the 30 minute walk down to the village to visit the pub and discovered they were having a summer community event with live music. Not quite Glastonbury but nevertheless a great couple of hours listening to a performer run through Elton’s back catalogue without murdering it (we also bumped into Rachel who had escaped the farm for a swift half). The pub was busy and friendly with a community feel and I would recommend anyone to wander down there if they get the time. Like so many of the other reviewers, we would love to return again next year – which in itself is probably the best endorsement to give.
