Our stay at this charming boutique hotel in Evora was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, the hotel manager welcomed us with a warm smile and genuine hospitality, making us feel instantly at home. The hotel itself is unique, with only seven rooms, creating a cozy, intimate atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere. On our first day, the manager went above and beyond by personally showing us the nearby parking area, which made things so convenient. Every time we entered the hotel, we were greeted with a friendly smile that truly added to the experience. The breakfast dining room was beautiful, and the breakfast each morning was delicious, offering the perfect start to our day. Overall, our stay was exceptional. The personal touch and outstanding hospitality made this a trip to remember. I’d highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Evora!

Our rental car broke down just outside Évora, and the rental company arranged for a taxi to take us all the way back to Lisbon to get a replacement. It was late in the day, and we were completely exhausted, even considering canceling our reservation and staying in Lisbon. I’m so glad we didn’t! Valeriana Exclusive Guesthouse is a wonderfully restored gem located next to Praça do Giraldo, Évora’s main square. Dário Leirão, the General Manager, was exceptional. After we informed him of our misfortune and uncertain arrival time, he reassured us not to worry. We arrived just as he was finishing his day, and his natural warmth immediately melted away our stress. He made sure we were settled in before heading home. Several great restaurants are within walking distance, and Dário’s recommendations were spot on, thanks to his personal experiences with many of them.

Lovely welcome and a central location to the central square. Free parking nearby was a bonus. Check in friendly and the room was very clean. I found the bed very hard and struggled to sleep very well, added with a very noise disco nearby and lots of drunken noisy people leaving and hanging around outside (guest house is right in the centre). This went on until 3am, so not the best nights sleep. Breakfast was in a box with lots of choice etc. The location is excellent and the staff were very friendly. If not for the hard mattress and late night noise it would have been a 5/5.

This is such an amazing place. A little hidden corner just off the main square in Evora, through a non-descript door, and c up a flight of marble stairs to a wonderfully decorated townhouse with three floors. The house was originally owned by two chemists, and many of their equipment has been polished and restored and placed around main living areas. The themes throughout is based on this, with rooms labelled with names such as Magnesio do Sulfata. Our bedroom was small, but had the advantage of looking out over the rear of the property and not on the main street. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Much of the charm of the guesthouse is that a of their staff – Dario and Jose – who made our stay so much more pleasant with their helpfulness and willingness, always with a smile. Breakfast is served in the dining room, with a large box full of everything you might need for a continental breakfast and all very delicious. Upstairs on the top floor there is a sitting room which opens onto a wide outdoor terrace – perfect to catch the last rays of sun with a glass of wine. There’s even a fridge for such things, and an honesty box for payment. Évora is a wonderful city, and Valeriana guesthouse is definitely a contributory factor. So go - it’s delightful.

I spent 2 nights at the Valeriana Exclusive Guesthouse in mid-April and was very impressed with its exceptionally helpful staff. The breakfast included a box with a satisfying array of options and excellent coffee, served in a very pleasant room. A few very minor tweaks might make a stay a tiny bit more comfortable (e.g., providing a place to hang long items), but overall, my room was comfortable and the location was superb.
