Quiet peaceful place, everything was good, just come early for breakfast, there was nothing left when we walked up.

An amazing building with historical connections. The bathroom was good, with deep bath and good mains water pressure. But the bedroom needed serious update. No mains lighting in the bedroom or hallway, just plug in side lights by the bed and a standard lamp on old fashioned round pin plug in hall. I had to use a torch to move round the bedroom. The lift wasn't working, although the membet of staff managed some manoeuvre to get it working which I couldn't replicate. Restaurant was ok but the standard of a reasonable pub, not fine dining. Menu was a bit odd - steak and chips, fish and chips style or "venison pudding" which was a huge stodgy pastry with over cooked dry meat inside. Breakfast buffet was very nice, but too dark in that room also. Six jams and marmalades in open jars with no way of knowing what they were, and no little dishes to put them in to take to your seat. Service at breakfast had to be sought out, no one in site. Breakfast bacon was inedible - cooked previously then reheated. Overall, it is a fascinating place but needs a big overall and review of what they are offering.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Food is excellent BUT the hotel is let down hugely by its waiting staff and evening receptionists. We arrived on our first day at 7.30pm on a Friday and were greeted by the receptionist who just handed us our room key, checked us in but didn’t let us know meal timings etc so presumed this would be in the room - it was not. Went back to reception - no receptionist around but found a piece of paper with the relevant info on the reception desk. Why was this not given to us earlier! At dinner that night the waiting staff behaved like they did not want to be there! Breakfast the next morning there was only one waiter on duty - we waited ages to be seated and when we were taken to our seats we were left there and not told that we had to help ourselves to tea and coffee etc which was round the corner along with the continental breakfasts - one of the guests actually told us this! Appalling lack of interest again by the waiting staff. The next day early evening - couple of guests were found wandering around the hotel trying to find a receptionist to check them in as they had just arrived! The receptionist was too busy having a cigarette outside! there was no bar staff during the evening at one point - again had to go and find someone then three bar staff appeared at once! Later on a guest came to order a drink at about 10.45pm and the girl who was behind the bar told the guest that she was about to go but ok will get the guest his drink. Beautiful hotel and grounds, food is good but let down hugely by the waiting staff and evening reception team. Will not return and definitely would not recommend this hotel.

Upon arrival it’s confusing as the signage is inadequate to direct you to the hotel car park (go straight over mini roundabout and up the hill). The site shares its entrance with a BBC training centre and a retirement home. The building itself is beautiful and it’s got an interesting history (including a nod to classic Dr Who fans). We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor which was bright and basically comfortable. But there were few sockets, no ceiling lights and the windows only open 2 inches like in a Premier Inn. So it was very hot as there was no AC or fan or any air circulation. Our cream tea was delicious in the comfortable lounge, with Bredon hill in the background. Dinner was a disappointment. The limited menu was very expensive, my chicken n chips was as plain as it could be. The lemon mouse lacked any lemon flavour and the advertised flaked-almonds were replaced by rolled oats. Breakfast was better … a good selection of hot dishes and nice cold continental accompaniments. The two breakfast ladies need some help as they were run off their feet. By the by there's a room with a pool table which is cool. All the crew are really friendly and helpful and the house has a nice relaxed vibe. I’m sure we’ll come again, but on a B&B basis.

Booked through *********** which seemed to make a difference to what room you were allocated. We were put in the Pear tree annex. Room 402 was boiling hot, no air con and only a small opening window. There was a fan in the room which helped a bit. Room overlooked the bins which caused us to be disturbed early morning when staff put thing out there. It was hot and yes they did smell a bit. Grounds are very nice but needed a bit of tlc snd watering as everything was wilting. Breakfast in the restaurant was included. Started well, attentive restaurant lead checked us in and pointed us to continental breakfast bit, good range pastries, cheese, salami and cereals etc as well as juice and vegan options. However we ordered eggs benedict and full English. At this point the order for tea and coffee was made as well as toast, these came out promptly but after 40 minutes we had to ask where our breakfast was. After 5 minutes we were told that our order had been somehow been missed and it was being done and would be 5 minutes, the restaurantlead was very apologetic. I asked for more coffee. After 10 more minutes our breakfast arrived. Eggs benedict was good, full English was average with the bacon very tough and dry. Coffee never did come. Room not all the lights worked, bathroom did not have shower gel. When we checked out we told reception about the faults snd suggested that 402 should not be used in the hot days. She was dismissive saying yes ut does get hot up there, but the room was not hot it was more akin to an oven. She also said she'd get the lamps sorted and shower gel filled - not much good after you check out.

After recently staying at The Wood Norton I thought I must share my experience so that others are encouraged to take advantage of this classic hotel set in idyllic grounds with beautiful views which are also accessible from the restaurant and the gardens patio. The room was spotlessly clean and presented very well with all you would expect. The Bathroom was of a good size and of a classic decor and both the water pressure of the bath and shower made them all the more enjoyable. The bed and the and linen were of an excellent size and quality enabling a superb night's sleep essential to maximise personal productivity the following day. Both dinner and breakfast were a complete pleasure and thoroughly enjoyable with a fabulous menu which when ordered was cooked and presented beautifully. The lady running the restaurant I believe her name to be Shabila succeeded in making the dinner and breakfast experience as comfortable and enjoyable as the room. If you're looking for a stsy in a hotel brimming with character and boasting excellent essential facilities and is topped off with a delicious menu with service which is second to none then the Wood norton ticks all of those boxes.

We were at the introduction of Glyn Purnell as the hotel's new restaurant chef. The sample menu for "Sharing Plates" was amazing and we would recommend trying this ; we will definitely be returning. The staff were welcoming, very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings.
