Arrived at the hotel late & it was raining. The property was excellent. We were assigned to our room that can accommodate 6 people. It was just an over night stay but still we enjoyed it. We were able to see a wapiti and it was the biggest i have see so far. Thank you YMCA for the great experience.

No AC, every room and building was a sauna. Room was dirty with multiple broken items. Staff seemed to all be teenagers who wanted to be somewhere else.

I could go on and on about this great trip. My 5 year old cried because she didn't want to come home. I think we all felt the same way. We went with family and each rented a 2bd midsize cabin. We were in the Ponderosa and they were in Willow Creek. Our cabin was newer (2020, I believe) and while almost identical to the other, there were a few added touches that were nice - built in shelf in the bathroom and a cabinet above the toilet for added storage. Our beds were more comfy (still not fantastic, but fine) and our couch was obviously newer. There are so many things to do here. We did a few free activities (sign up early since they all get filled QUICK) and also paid for the private indoor rock climbing (which was awesome and totally worth it). There are playgrounds, tire swings, sand pits everywhere, the mini golf was a blast (the small kids course was great) and bunch of other sports fields/swimming etc. I think the favorite was the Craft Center. HOURS of fun. Great options to entertain kids of all ages. -Our cabin was further away from the lodge (but still totally walkable) so our internet/cell service was VERY limited. This was not a major issue except that a new wildfire started and we needed to determine if roads were open and how to leave. -We didn't have a place to hang coats. The other cabin had coat hooks galore. -While the cabins are handicapped accessible with wider doorways and pull ups at the sinks, a few things to note. The driveway is pebbles, so it would be difficult to maneuver a chair TO the cabin. Also, our tub was a standard one - didn't have pull bars, or a seat (not sure if the latter needed to be reserved)? It would be nice to maybe offer roll in showers in some cabins.

We just needed a room for 1 night so we didnt use any of the facilities, breakfast, or activities. It was so close to the RMNP entrance which was perfect for a super early start to try to get parking down Bear Lake Road. As soon as we pulled in though, it felt like we were at a camp or retreat and I wasnt 100% sure we were even allowed to be there. Lol. I was in the Army and this felt like being in the barracks or on TDY somewhere. I never went to summer camp, but I imagine this is exactly what that feels like. There is no A/C so def warm sleeping in the summer. The room I booked online showed 2 queens and a sofa bed but upon checking in, it was only 2 queens. They offered up a blow-up mattress or a futon at 720pm but after calling 2x to the front desk, they finally brought it up around 1030pm but by then it was too late. We just made due. These are just small, old, "rustic" rooms, no tv, no micro, 2 of the lights didnt work, no a/c, summer camp anawana type rooms. Quiet time was 11pm which is too late to be hearing music and kids yelling and people talking. Everyone has to have their windows and doors open to try and cool off the rooms, so you hear every single thing around you. Car Doors, sliding screen doors, music, talking, laughing, etc. Walls are super thin, you can hear kids running up and down the halls, and all of your neighbors. Make sure you bring ear plugs or ANC ear buds and be ready to not get much sleep if your planning a super early start like we were. If you have young kids or early teens and you dont like to plan trips, or get out and do things in the RMNP, then you could easily stay here for a week and turn them loose to go do activities, make friends, etc and you then can tell people you vacationed in the rockies. Its not a bad place at all, just know what youre in for. Its cheap, decent, great views, tons of things to do for kids. Not for us, but 100% for some people. Looked like they were basically sold out when we stayed so a TON of people go here. This isnt a bad review, there isnt anything really wrong here. Its just alot more "work" to stay here than just hitting the Holiday Inn or Best Western Plus. Which is good or bad, depending on what youre looking to do.

Biggest problem - check in time is 6 pm. With the national park timed entry, the check in time at the YMCA can pose problems. It doesn't help that in turn, the check out time is 10am?? If your paying $300+ CAD per night like we did, its overpriced when you think about it. The food options aren't great, Nasty food and overpriced especially the buffet. The rooms in the lodge (Wind river) are old/dated and cleanliness is average. However, what redeems this place is the location and natural beauty! 12min to entrance of park, and the scenery from the resort itself is breathtaking! deer and elk roaming the property. many activities on site for the family(roller skating, rock climbing and mini golf to name a few) Would stay again if they could improve their check in time to align with industry standards.

The YMCA complex is amazing, so huge and all of the activities are so well organized. The staff are pleasant and our cabin was nice and clean and spacious. The only negative in the cabin was the mattress, very soft and hard on our backs, probably time for a new one.

What a large sprawling campus. There are tons of activites to do right on property grounds. Be aware though that most things are done by 5:30 pm which was disappointing as we got in a little later. But, there is a lot of trails and wildlife all over. Driving in we saw Elk and then right outside our room there was a moose wondering around. Went with a family room with 2 bunk beds and a queen. It was comfortable and had the amenities we need.
