Mett Hotel & Beach Resort Marbella Estepona

This is a very pretty hotel with a beautiful pool area and really really good restaurants - we especially loved Ammos and the Beach Azure for lunch. Overall, we had a lovely stay- our rating is based on the following unfortunate qualities. Prior to our arrival we had tried to contact the hotel to sort out some issues regarding our booking. We tried calling several times, no respons!!, and we sent them an email and had no respons what so ever. This is quite unprofessional and a bit unusual. Unfortunately, we also had a very disappointing check in process (which leaves one with a bad first impression, to say the least). Long story short; we arrived at the hotel at 12:00 and they basically promised us we’d get the room earlier than the usual check in time which is 15:00. Not only did they not keep this promise, the room wasn’t ready until 16:30. They didn’t even offer us some water while we waited. The service level is definately no where near 5 star level. They also let people not staying at the hotel come in to rent sunbeds at the pool - it just makes the vibe a bit less exclusive. Also, pool service is lacking - as they have no system for ordering - you basically have to hunt down someone to order a drink.

We stayed at METT Resort for five days and had a really enjoyable experience. The biggest compliment I can give is that I’d definitely go back. Positives: The resort itself was excellent — from the spacious, well-kept rooms to the great pool and gym facilities. The standout for us was the Isola restaurant. The food was consistently good, especially at breakfast, and the service was excellent. A special thanks to Claudia, who looked after us around the pool. She was incredibly hardworking, friendly, and always available — easily the most dedicated staff member we came across during our whole trip (including in Barcelona). Negatives: Check-in was underwhelming. We were offered welcome drinks that never arrived, weren’t given any information about the resort (like breakfast times or locations), and had to find our room with minimal direction. Not a huge issue, but disappointing given the resort’s standard and price. We also thought the resort was adults-only, but there were young children in the restaurants and teenagers using the pool. It also felt like many people using the facilities weren’t guests, and there didn’t seem to be any priority given to those staying at the resort. On our first night, we were nearly turned away from the Greek restaurant because we hadn’t booked — not ideal just after arriving. Lastly, the music around the pool is quite loud and constant. We had expected this from reading reviews, so it didn’t bother us too much, but it’s worth noting. Overall: We had a great time. No resort gets everything right, but METT came very close. With a few small improvements, it could be truly exceptional.
