Hotel Haus Gimken

Ein sehr schönes Hotel-Restaurant mit ausgezeichneter Küche und sehr freundlichem Service! Wir haben 2 Tage hintereinander dort gegessen und jedesmal war es sehr schmackhaft, große Portionen und toller Bedienung. Der Biergarten liegt im Grünen unter sehr alten Bäumen.

After we had a good impression of the kitchen in January 2022, the food today was a disappointment. The portion of asparagus was not in the correct proportion to the ham (too much ham for relatively little asparagus), the potatoes were too floury, the side salad was indigestible and the steak tasted of nothing, the bacon beans were too mushy. A lot needs to be done in the kitchen here. Otherwise, I wouldn't give the restaurant 7 months. It's a shame, because the decor is pleasant and the service is nice.

We had a great weekend. We had made a reservation for Christmas Eve. Due to an error at the booking agency, the reservation did not reach them. Haus Gimken gave us a free stay. I couldn't sleep well at the Hotel Gimken because the mattress was too hard for me, but otherwise I liked it and I thought the food was good. The waiters were also very friendly and nice.😊👍.

We held our family celebration on a somewhat larger scale in the restaurant of the Gimken house. I experienced aspects there that excited me, but also things that are unacceptable. On the positive side: Our Corona vaccination certificates were checked. The distance between our table and the tables of neighboring guests was sufficiently large. The staff who served us were extremely helpful, very friendly and always available. On the negative side: The menu, with its selected, considered and stylish words about the individual dishes, gave me the impression that the chefs had higher standards for their own dishes. Unfortunately, the reality was different. Some dishes were quite tasty, others not. But my expectation was that all guests would enjoy them and not just a limited number. Two of my family members ordered fish dishes that they didn't like. My daughter and I ordered the following salad: "Fruity chef's salad in the house style with corn-fed chicken breast strips." The so-called "corn-fed chicken breast strips" were various chicken parts, including: with bones and cartilage that were not completely cooked through, and some of them were still bloody. I complained to the staff. The chef couldn't personally, but had the staff say that there was no reason for complaint. Despite the bones and cartilage, these were "corn-fed chicken breast strips".
