The apartment was very spacious and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and extremely clean. The beds were comfortable, but personally I would like to have had cotton sheets not nylon/polyester. We were there for a funeral and for us everything was within walking distance. It's not really a tourist area but Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is within walking distance and well worth a visit. Excellent transport links to Essen and very good shops nearby. There was free parking. We were not meet by the host but did speak to him on the phone. The apartment has 2 bedrooms with the possibility for 7 people to sleep but only one combined bathroom with toilet, for this many people it really needs 2 toilets. We just about managed with 4 adults. . There is no grab rail in the bath and no visible slip mat. The bath screen was loose and flimsy, an accident waiting to happen. The towels were so thin, I had to borrow some from my cousin. The bedroom furniture I think needs updating. Having said all that, I would stay again.
