We stayed for 1 night after the races at Sandown Park. I emailed ahead, requesting an early check-in, which was available, our room was available from 1300. Great room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with walking shower.

Staying at the Bear is like staying at your best friend's house, only better! Tracy the manager and the entire team are genuinely welcoming and helpful and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and that you have everything you need. This was my second stay at The Bear and both times the rooms were very comfortable. We also had a great time sitting out in the garden with family and friends from the area. The breakfast is a great deal and the Eggs Benedict are delicious. I'm already looking forward to our next stay!

My son and I stayed for a night at The Bear hotel in room 6 - a twin room. The room was decorated nicely, spotless, with well working air conditioning and a mini fridge. Beds were comfortable. I had been concerned it might be noisy staying above a pub on a Saturday night but other than a faint murmur at times from below, it wasn’t disturbing at all. Tracy was an absolute gem from start to finish. You felt that noting would’ve been too much to ask. She was very sweet and engaging with my son. He liked it there so much he said it was the best place he’s stayed and asked if we could stay another night..! Alas not this time but I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very comfortable with all the anenities you need. We were very well looked after. It is rare to get good customer service these days.

Went for lunch - order was wrong - fish was very overcooked and the chips weren't much better. Service was OK but not great. Could have been better as been there before and the pub wasn't that busy either. PIty as been there before but wasnt impressed sadly.

The welcome from staff set the tone - Marty was incredibly friendly and personable. The room was comfortable and amenities were well presented. The atmosphere in the bar was chilled and relaxed and the restaurant service was good despite two big events happening that evening.

Room was comfortable and shower was a good size. I really liked the downstairs décor and outdoor space. Food though was mediocre, We had the Sunday roast but presentation was lacking and it looked like the roast potatoes had seen the oven a few times. i would not try again. A couple of doors down there is a giggling squid which ids well worth a visit. Waitrose and Tesco are also nearby. It is a Young's pub so good beer.

Fab location, centre of town. Great service. Nicely decorated room, super comfy beds. Lovely food, (we only had breakfast which catered for everyone’s needs). Nothing was too much. Marty was a superstar. Bent over backwards to accommodate us.
