Ephrata Inn Motel

A group of four of us on a fishing trip to the area decided to try staying at the Ephrata Inn because of its cost and proximity to the areas that we planned to fish. We had some concern about the motel because of some of the reviews that we had read. In general, we were quite satisfied with the accommodations and service at this motel. We were on a fishing trip and needed a place to stay that would satisfy our basic needs. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager who confirmed our reservations and showed us our rooms. The price that we paid was as quoted when we made our reservations. For two of us who shared a room this came out to be $59 per night including taxes, for each of us. We were given our choice of rooms and opted for the ones that best suited our needs. The room that we chose was spacious enough for two of us and all of our gear. The beds had good, firm mattresses and the linens were fresh and clean. The pillows were also clean and fresh smelling. We were offered daily housekeeping service and accepted the daily service. This included fresh towels and cleanup of the room every day. The shower, toilet and bathroom sink were clean and functioned properly. The refrigerator and microwave also worked well. There is some train noise because the railroad tracks are fairly close to the motel, but trains generally did not bother us between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. The motel is and older establishment and could use some updating, but it met our needs. The manager, Kool, was very helpful and responsive to all of our requests. One major request was for parking of our vehicles and small boat trailers. Kool showed us where we could park our rigs to have good access and not interfere other motel guests. Our fishing club makes an annual trip to the Ephrata area and we plan to recommend the Ephrata Inn to other members who are looking for a clean, budget friendly place to stay.

The room rate that was booked was $65. Upon check-in, I was charged a room rate of $89. It took several minutes to clear that up during check-in.

Bathroom is old and outdated. There was mildew and hair from a prior occupant on the ceiling of the shower. Everything needed a good scrub. Shower curtain had mystery white stains on it. Bathroom door would get stuck and the person in the restroom would need to be saved by someone outside the bathroom. Sink leaked, toilet had leak at the bottom. Man who checked me in charged me more than quoted by ******* and said all of 6 words to me the entire process. Linens were clean on bed, but bed were very uncomfortable. Front door had gap where you could see daily light and you had to put your entire weight against the door to close it. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else, someone in our party stayed here a few years ago and it wasnt as run down.

Next time we will sleep in our car The bathroom was not too clean. There was a air gap all the way around the front door. Only one Kleenex tissue in the Box no backup. The same exact picture was hanging over both beds. There were two white chairs that were absolutely grimy Stained and filthy looking. And for this we paid $392 a night!?
