No hot water Wifi doesn’t reach the room Slow service Disappointed with my trip here, despite the amazing and beautiful surroundings I have found the hotel not living up to its beautiful area and building. No hot water when having a shower - called the receptions to be told to wait 15 mins and that’s was all. No wifi reaching the room. Called reception to be told there’s nothing they can do. I was on a business trip and wifi is crucial to my job ! Hope they can improve these areas because other then that they would have a lovely hotel

Looking for a comfortable one-night stay, close by Powerscourt Gardens, we chose Summerhill House Hotel. The property offers a relaxed vibe with a touch of luxury. The breakfast is excellent. We also ate dinner in the Terrace and enjoyed our choices. The staff were attentive. However, our ground floor room - a triple configured as a twin at our request - was disappointing. The bathroom had been relatively recently renovated and looked good but it had only one small hanging hook, no towel rails, no shower safety grab-rail nor even a toilet roll holder, it was unfinished. The furnishings were poor and mismatched. Instead of bedside tables were blocks of wood. Also one of the bedside lamps on its wood block was not working. The room did meet our expectations.

Its just such a quaint hotel. The surroundings and gardens are fabulous. The staff are just great especially Christian in the bar. The breakfast choice is amazing. Rooms are comfy and location to the M50 is minutes away. Relaxing bar in the evening and not overcrowded. A real getaway hotel.

Fantastic spot!
I've stayed here a number of times - it's perfect.
Comfy rooms, staff are very friendly, food is amazing!
Great location too, quiet and close to Powerscourt Estate.
Would certainly recommend.

Beautiful setting for this hotel, and the place itself is as well. Lot's of vintage charm, but modern where it counts. Food was great, and the staff were all fantastic - every single one of them. We loved our spacious room, and will definitely stay there again. My favorite interaction with staff: I asked when the pub opened - they said "when you get back from your hike!" I asked how late it stayed open, they said "until you're done!" Love that!

Absolutely terrible experience, paid over the odds in comparison to far more superior hotels in the area ,for what we thought would be a lovely stay in a beautiful house for valentines .How wrong can you be? Arrived to a “ crematorium “atmosphere, no guests, no atmosphere, shabby decrepit decor ,and no bar despite being advertised -so we went straight to bed at 8 O Clock. The entire place needs major work, the house was probably once beautiful but now is just rundown and no amount of candles can disquise that. Plugs weren’t working in our room ,” clean”towel in our room had a clump of thick black hair in it and the lift was shabby and dirty and reflective of the rest of the hotel.Breakfast was unappetising and mostly cold.Told receptionist on the way out we were deducting 30 Euro due to the various issues and we still over paid at that. In fairness she apologised ,but was waiting on her manager to show up- presumably she did because the 30 Euro has been removed from our account in spite of the issues- customer service is clearly non existent too.Don’t be fooled as we were by nice photos and clever marketing, all they were short of was Jack Nicholson and a set of twins a la “ The Shinning”- Do yourself a favour and AVOID 😡

Could be fantastic
Character hotel in a great location and tries very hard to be luxury. Bistro menu is interesting, breakfast menu extensive. Probably the best time to enjoy the hotel is not a rainy night in Jan. I was unlucky room Tv was faulty, and staff could not fix, Shower was cold and lacked any power and breakfast eggs one was very under cooked. However it would not stop me trying this hotel again in Summer.
