Went to meet up with friends to walk our dogs and then nipped in here for lunch. Amazing place. Staff super friendly, food choice was good and well priced and the decor was lovely and we were able to take our four well behaved dogs into the lounge area. Overall a fantastic find

Just got home from a three-night stay at this lovely hotel. I stayed here a number of years ago and it was good then but it has since undergone a complete renovation and extension, with more bedrooms, extended deck and terracing, restaurant and bar. From my arrival at reception, checking in and being shown to my room, I found all the staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. No question too silly, always happy to help. Can't ask more than that! My room was a riverside view - two windows facing the river and double french doors which opened to a "Juliette Balcony", ie a glass barrie and bar across - just an opportunity to have lots of fresh air and sunshine (I think this would have been very acceptable during the hot summer!). The bed was a king-size bed and was extremely comfortable with pillows and cushions, and at the foot of the bed was a sofa facing a TV on the wall. There was also a very nice tub chair and a large square "pouffe"/seat in the middle of the room. The bathroom was excellent - walk-in shower, wash basin and toilet, light-up mirror. Everywhere was spotless and I couldn't have been more pleased with my surroundings. There was a hair dryer, a fan, a small portable electric heater. There was also central heating with a large radiator on the wall! What more could you ask for? Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and I had a meal in the restaurant too - Moroccan spiced salmon, which was "spot-on" ! All in all, I have had a lovely few days at this peaceful hotel and I highly commend the friendly staff, the rooms, the food and, in fact, everything about it ! Would I come back again? Most definitely. Thank you The Three Pickerels.

Great hotel, with a beautiful view of the river and great dining facilities. The staff were very good and the room clean and spacious. Overall would recommend this hotel.

Great stay, but bed too soft
Great dinner, enough choice, price just about ok.
Great breakfast (and big)
Great staff
Beer prices acceptable.
Only shame was bed was too soft (and pillows) It was probably a quality, expensive bed but we found it so soft it was difficult to sleep on (which is the reason to stay there!)
Almost felt like head was lower than our feet.
But if you like a soft bed 10/10
The weather wasn't good enough for us to spend time outside, but the facilities were ideal for a sunny day.

Friendly polite staff. Lovely food evening meal and breakfast. Very clean. Nice view over the river. Definitely will return. Very close to Ely Cathedral and Cambridge.
