We are starting to love bed and breakfasts. The house is absolutely beautiful! The beautiful old floors caught my attention as soon as we walked in. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we were glad we didn't have a ton of luggage to carry up. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated. We choose a room with a jacuzzi tub and that was really nice and large. The bed was too hard for me but my husband liked it. The breakfast was yummy and filling. The options were scrambled eggs with cheese and potatoes with everything bagel seasoning. They also always have a waffle maker, toast, bagels and fruit.

Had an incredible stay at Elk Forge, and really wanted to share our experience. We were down in the Maryland area to visit friends for a special occasion and decided to see if we could make a long weekend out of it. I called up the inn and the owners were able to accommodate us even though it was last minute, we felt lucky because it was the first weekend in a while that they weren't fully booked, so even though they "can" accommodate late bookings I'd suggest booking early if you know you're heading to the area! Elk Forge is really the American dream in a nutshell. It's an old-fashioned country estate that was transformed into a family run business and they do a great job to make your stay very hospitable. We stayed in one of their suites and the place was clean we were tastefully surrounded with murals that depicted the location and some fun motifs from room to room. There were two of us but we just as easily could have brought a few more and we would have had plenty of room! The beds are comfortable, the pillows were plentiful, and the sheets were soft. We went to breakfast in the morning, and it didn't disappoint either. We had fresh fruit, waffles and eggs along with a different meat selection every day. The coffee and tea cart were frequented several times as it was a nice relaxing addition to our breakfast(s). The are was fun to explore and we were able to head to a fun state park with access to large waterways at Elk neck, and also took a fun trip up to Northeast Maryland, which is a cute little town just down the road. We were sitting in the room trying to figure out how we were going to tell our friends and family we weren't coming home but sadly decided we probably needed to get back to reality. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we would highly recommend you to anyone reading!

If you appreciate historical integrity, this old manor house is a must stay! We had the pleasure of touring this wonderful home filled with stained glass and charm everywhere! You really had the feeling of "borrowing" this house for a couple days, between the cozy sitting areas (complete with plenty of reading material!) woodwork and artwork everywhere, it was a tour in itself. We were in the Philadelphia room and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it! Between the beautiful décor (stained glass in the BATHROOM!) jacuzzi tub and fireplace, it was possibly the best room in the house! The only thing that made it worth leaving the room was the wonderful B&Breakfast - complete with waffle maker! The small private trails along the water were perfect for a morning walk after a fulfilling breakfast.

This is as much a review of ***********, as it is of the property; however *********** wouldn’t accept my confirm # and pin to review the property there (as > 28 days had elapsed) . I made a reservation for this property, for a 3 night’s stay, in early August, 2022. As my trip was for a annual family event, I made the reservation in May, far in advance of the event. Upon getting a confirmation from ***********, the property’s online agent, the property took a deposit of $100.13, on the credit card which I used to guarantee the reservation. Nine days before my arrival at the property, due to a change of plans, I canceled the reservation online (on 7/27/2022) and received a confirmation from *********** that the cancellation was free of charge (being 9 days in advance and well within the 3 days req.). By mid-August, the property had denied they owed my deposit back. *********** (Bk.com) said they contacted the property - the story they got from the property was totally untrue or confused me with another person - and *********** said either I’d get my deposit back in 24 hrs from the property, or in 48 hrs from ***********. I initiated a dispute claim with the credit card company, after waiting for ***********, because it became clear they were just “jerking” me around. Submitting this claim to the bank card company was not without hurdles, but in the end, the bank card company sent me a form letter (covering 95% of cases, no doubt) denying my claim, because when disputing the charge, 90 days had passed since the “purchase” (i.e. in May when I made the reservation and the deposit was taken). What purchase one might ask?? But clearly I was out of luck with the bank too and the property unfairly got away with taking $ 100 from me.

My husband and I booked this B&B for one night during our long road trip back home from Boston. For starters, when we arrived I walked into a creepy empty parlor with no one to greet me. I had to go through the dining room trying to find someone and knock on the kitchen door to finally reach the owner. She was sitting in the kitchen and seemed perturbed. I felt like I was disturbing her. She offered me the key to our room and gave me very poor directions on how to get to it. She didn't offer to show us to our rooms which is generally the hospitality you receive when staying at a B&B. I went back to the main house to ask for some recommendations for dinner in the area and again felt like I was imposing. The family was sitting down to dinner and when I asked for stemware and a bottle opener I was instructed by the male owner that they where in the dinning room in the china cabinet which I went to in a dimly lit room. No help from the owners. Hospitality is not their forte. The room we stayed in , the Country Club room was outdated and smelled musty. The wall unit A/C was loud and we had a difficult time staying asleep throughout the night. In the morning my husband went to the dining area for breakfast. It was more like a continental breakfast with cold items and hard boiled eggs. Nothing like what is shown in the pictures from their site. Most B&B we have been to pride themselves on their home cooked breakfasts. You won't find that here at Elk Forge! My advice to anyone traveling through the area, stay somewhere else. Don't waste your money on this place.

My husband and I just needed a one night get away. We wanted to try a new B&B than our usual one. We were so disappointed, and here is why: no one greeted us when we arrived, just an envelope with our key and to follow the directions to find our room; no thermostat in the room, it had to be at least 75 degrees, way too hot to sleep; the bed in our room was incredibly tall, I had to pull a chair over to the bed to get on it, there was no foot stool; our room was a basement room, just yuk!; no tissue box anywhere; dirty medicine cabinet; disgusting shampoo/conditioner/body was dispenser in the shower; skivvy looking toothbrush holder attached to outside of the shower; mold along the shower pan; absolutely no place to put my "stuff"...hair brush, curling iron, makeup bag since there is a pedestal sink in the bath, but plenty of room to add a small table; 2 of the 3 lights over the sink were out; furniture was dirty; no iron or board; mold spot on the ceiling in living room of our suite; room was run down; the entire building is run down; and breakfast, well what can I say....pre-packaged muffins, bread in bread bag next to a toaster, and I could make a waffle, expired bottle of orange juice, filthy coffee dispensers, hanging plants that shed their leaves all over the floor and over the breakfast tables. I asked if I could have 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast and was told they haven't had eggs for 2 years and they are not allowed to cook. Really??? If you wanted to drink alcohol in your room, you need to buy it from the B&B, since the notice in our room clearly states no outside liquor and if the authorities find out, there is a $1,000 fine. WTH, is this a Maryland thing??? The only good thing I can say is the shower water pressure was great. I highly recommend our usual B&B, only 30 minutes away, which is Miller Dunham Bed and Breakfast in Odessa Delaware, you won't be disappointed there!
