Clean, quiet and comfortable room. Chose this location as it was 30 min's or so from both Lake Placid and Ausable Chasm, my destinations. Room 1 was spacious and roomy and had a refrigerator- an added bonus ( wish I knew ahead of time as I could have planned to use it) Used the record player one nite which was nice in lieu of a TV. They did have an expresso machine and a hot water kettle. (Bring your own cups , as we did, though, as it was $20 to buy theirs.) The restaurant downstairs was also very good and busy as this place was like the only place around. Elizabethtown is a nice village of sorts with very little in it . No place for a breakfast , other than a convenience store/gas station, which was conveniently located across the street. or a small grocery store. The Adirondack museum is just up the street and a good take-in. Wonderful stay for a runaway few days!

This is billed as the oldest tavern in the Adirondacks - it opened in 1808! There are six rooms upstairs. I had the Library Room, which is really cool. It's fairly modern in design (doesn't look like it did in 1808, except for the beams, maybe) with lots of windows, polished wood, a comfortable bed, small desk, small but modern bathroom, and (being the library) lots and lots of books. The inn part is run sort of remotely, so you may not meet your host, Rob (except you probably will meet him at dinner). The day you arrive, you get a text giving you a code to open the front door and another code for your room door, but there's never a person there to greet you. There were a couple of minor issues that I think have been fixed by now: The newly installed Wi-Fi didn't reach all the way to my room, at the end of the hall. Rob was going to move the router. And the cupboards that would have provided storage in the room were full of restaurant stuff. Rob was going to consolidate that stuff and make room for guests to store their gear. The tavern downstairs is a great place for dinner, and you don't even have to set foot outside. Good cocktails and wine, and a small but good menu with lots of local ingredients. Breakfast is not provided. There's a diner in town, and I'd advise you to get breakfast there - I didn't find any other options for a very long time, when I left there on beautiful back roads. The inn doesn't have a parking lot but it was easy to park on the side street right beside the inn.

Really nice place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and the restaurant is excellent. If you are a reader, the library is great. I have eaten at the restaurant several times and never had a bad meal. Beautiful area to explore in the Adirondacks. Put on the top of your list as a must stay.

Arrived at the restaurant for a 6p reservation. We asked if we could sit outside and were told sorry, no two top tables available (there were other tables open). We were then seated right inside the door in a main traffic lane for servers going in and out. The restaurant was mostly empty with other two tables available in less trafficked areas. Our waitress was pleasant but knew little about the specials in which she described in a perfunctory manner. We have eaten here before a number of times but tonight the food did not hit the mark. Combined with all the elements it was a mediocre evening.

We stopped in for a weekend and had a nice stay. The room had everything we needed. When our kiddo decided to come with us last minute, they were able to accommodate and add a cot to the room. Our bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. It is an old building so definitely the character and quirks you’d expect and we loved the charm. We enjoyed a meal on the porch and drinks at the bar. Seamless weekend with this establishment. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.
