During a recent trip to Abaco, we had the pleasure of meeting Robert Williams, the dock master at Hopetown Marina in Abaco, and we can’t say enough good things about him. Robert is a truly solid person who sees his job and his work as two distinct callings—both of which he pours his heart into. His job is to keep the docks and logistics running smoothly, but his work goes far beyond that. Guided by his faith and a genuine desire to uplift others, he ensures every visitor has an unforgettable experience. Robert has a generous heart—he takes away your worries before you even realize you have them. Whether he’s tackling tough tasks with ease or stepping up in an emergency, he handles everything with a calm confidence that puts everyone at ease. During a sudden issue with a member of our party, he took charge immediately, sorted it out, and even checked back later to make sure we were doing okay. That kind of care is rare and made our stay so much better. If you’re docking at Hopetown Marina, Robert’s presence alone is reason enough to choose this spot. He’s a gem! The manager, Erin, must be setting a good tone, because the warmth and welcoming of all the staff to everyone, including those who stay at the Inn/Marina and those who simply go for the yummy drinks and dinner. Try the Pina coladas with a floater!

We’ve been at this marina multiple times , staying on their moorings and never had any issues. We kept coming back here during our 3 months in the Bahamas, because we loved it so much. However, last Saturday during the fishing tournament we were told we weren’t allowed to use the pool next to the bar by a woman at the office. When we explained we were on a mooring, she said that didn’t matter and the pools are ONLY for hotel and dock slip guests. Our first time here, we made sure to ask before we got a mooring if we could use the pool and were told absolutely by a different (friendly) woman! Then we asked about the fishing tournament going on and she Even though the flyers were all over town and you just pay to attend… Everyone that LIVES in Hope town uses this pool, I know because we met so many people at this pool. BUT someone that rents a mooring ball from you aren’t allowed to use it? This woman was completely rude and on a power trip. It really only takes one person to ruin our time here.

I was really looking forward to coming over and having lunch here. Our server was amazing, I wish I would have gotten her name. I ordered the mahi sandwich, it wasn’t great, it wasn’t fresh, and it was cold, as were the fries. Two people in our party ordered the lobster bites, they weren’t great, they come out cold. One of us ordered the Ahi tuna, and that was really good. The guy that runs the pontoon boat back-and-forth was great as well. I just don’t know, considering our experience if we would come back to eat here again.

Lunch at restaurant. Beautiful deck ovelooking harbor, nice tables and seating. Bahama Mama service as expected , good. Food terrible. French fries which started out as real hand cuts just a soggy pile. Grouper or whatever it was small odd size bites previously frozen for sure. You keep eating it because you are hungry and paid 30 bucks for it. Too add to the annoyance prices doubled on everything. Sent the 11.00 cup of “ Conch chowder back after one spoonful” Nice setting for a sunset drink or whatever but food seems like a scam.

Just returned & we were so happy to see how Hope Town has rebounded and rebuilt since Dorian. What a testimony to the resilience & determination of the residents. Had such a lovely time—will be back again & again. Truly my most favorite spot on the planet.

We stayed on a boat in the mooring field in front of the Inn for a week and stopped by frequently for dinner, drinks, and world class hospitality. Though we were not hotel guests, the staff went above and beyond to assist us with ferrying some of our mobility-challenged group from our boat to the dock, procuring some important celebration items like a birthday cake, etc. The service was so stellar we are planning on coming back to stay in one of their adorable ocean bungalows. Cassandra behind the bar was our lifesaver (and for very patient with our boisterous group to boot.) thank you for everything!
