Upon arrival, we were greeted by Nicolas. The B&B is located at the beginning of the central street meaning that everything is within a short walking distance. The rooms had everything we needed and the breakfast was simple but enough, it had all the basics. Our trip was a success thanks to Nicolas. We planned our trip but did not take in account that certain places are not accessible for individuals on certain dates. Thankfully, Nicolas helped us come up with a new planning. We enjoyed our trip to the fullest and we would definitely recommend staying at Casa Lickana!

Offering nice views of the surroundings, rooms at Nuevo Amanecer Hostal have shared or private bathroom facilities. A Continental breakfast is available for a surcharge. The rooms -- including bathrooms -- are tiny, which did not bother us as digital nomads because they still offered a lot of storage. The first floor lobby spills into an enormous dining room/work hall with plenty of seating and a variety of table heights (great for me to work sitting then move to a standing position). Lots of natural light and you can people watch through the windows. 24 hour attention @ the front desk and wifi speeds work GREAT in the room and best in the lobby. Brekkie is included in your rate and very good compared to other breakfasts we have eaten throughout our stay in Chile, including eggs made to order. Cafeteria offers buffet style or a la carte lunch + dinner. The sandwich we had for dinner was average, but keep in mind there are not many restaurants open on a Sunday in the area. Secure, off-street parking and we found that ~33% of the front desk staff we encountered spoke some English. NEGATIVES: 1) The room size is tight, but fine, except that there did not seem to be much air flow. This led to us sleeping with the window cracked for circulation, but the street noise is a distraction throughout the night. Bring ear plugs. 2) The included gym is a good thought but does not have free weights/weight lifting equipment; only cardio. For ~$6 USD/$5000 CHP there is a full gym 1 block away where you can buy a day pass. 3) Hotel contract mentions a safe in the room, but we did not see one in ours?! That would have been a useful touch. 4) I know the hotel cannot help its location, but I do not believe this is in the ”best” area of town. That being said, Calama is a bit rough anyway so the entire city itself statistically is not as safe as the aggregate of Chile. Case in point, EVERYONE tells you to not be out after sunset and the day of our arrival a poor teen was stabbed ~5 blocks from the hotel. This does not reflect in my rating of the hotel, but travelers should know that going into Calama/this hotel.

Good price-quality relationship. Comfortable beds and private bathroom. Common kitchen. About 20 minutes walking to the centre, which warmly makes it a little hateful, but there are taxis that carry for $4.000. The refrigerator is divided by rooms. They make a dress every day and change towels.

Me encantó mi estadía, la pasé increíble. Es limpio y ordenado sin dejar de ser entretenido, los espacios comunes funcionan muy bien, creando el clima idóneo para la interacción entre viajeros. Adicionalmente, el staff (Yanet) es súper amable y nos ayudó con todas nuestras dudas, además cuando tuvimos un problema con otro hostal y nos tuvimos que marchar de aquel, el Rey Lagarto nos recibió con los brazos abiertos, brindándonos soluciones y un lugar bacán. Lo único que mejoraría sería el aire acondicionado ya que pasamos mucho calor en la noche. En conclusión es un hostal que vale totalmente la pena y tiene la mejor relación precio/calidad.

We booked this hotel through a package and we were extremely pleased. The hotel is reached by crossing a small bridge over a canal after entering the property. The hotel is decorated with many indigenous pieces and has a courtyard with shady spaces set aside for relaxing and a small pool for cooling off. The rooms are nice and spacious and all have a refrigerator for placing water and snacks in. Yes it is rustic but it is clean and comfortable. By far the best part were the wonderful people working there. Our Spanish is very limited but we used google translate and had no problems. The kind gentleman allowed us to check in early as we had arrived from the airport a few hours prior to check in but had a tour booked for the afternoon. The breakfast was simple but healthy and plentiful. Each day we were asked if we wanted eggs. The hotel was always willing to help us in any way. They pointed out the area for us to change money and the store right across the street where we were able to stock up on water. Everyone was so helpful. We had a very positive experience here. Don’t hesitate to book this hotel!

The hostel is simple but very functional, with everything we need.. clean rooms, good towels, good bed with extra trawls. Our suite was wide and had a table with two chairs ... Two mute crews, a dish to store the items and a small towel ... Has a hairdryer and iron available ... Also has a kitchen, The hotel is very good for those who do not want to spend so much in San Pedro, because food is very expensive. Rodrigo, the owner of the hostel was very careful with us.
