Zum Loewen made for a useful stopover on the way south before the high prices of Switzerland kick in. Its recent extension offers beautifully equipped bedrooms, and the old main building has been smartly refurbished too. No noise from the adjoining railway line at all. Pretty easy parking, and a high-quality breakfast, although served elegantly 'plated' rather than as a buffet. A wedding event (quiet and well-behaved!) on the Saturday we stayed meant the restaurant service for other hotel guests was transferred to a dull-looking side room, so we chose out (5 mins walk to the Turkish cafe Deniz).

Rolstoelgebruiker. Aan de Zwitserse grens. Groot hotel. De spoorweg ligt er bijna tegenaan. Verzorgde indruk. Ruime en goed aangepaste kamer. Dubbele plooiende douchedeuren. Zelfs een verstelbare spiegel. 115 € ontbijt in. In de omgeving lijkt er niks interessants te vinden (Resto of café) . Nieuwe woonwijken. Een gesloten pizzeria en een ijs salon. Ofwel liep ik de foute richting uit…. Restaurant vh gasthuis Loewen is een drukke bediening. Goed georganiseerd. Ongezellige bar. Vlotte bediening. Katoen servetten. Echte bloemen op tafel. Maar niet direct goedkoop te noemen. Reken gerust op 25-30€ per gerecht.

Wir haben eine Nacht auf der Durchreise nach Italien dort verbracht und im angeschlossenen Restaurant vorzüglich gegessen. Das Zimmer ist gut ausgestattet, die Betten bequem , die Ausstattung stilvoll, funktionell und sehr sauber. Allein ein kleines Tablett mit einem kleinen Wasserkocher und Kaffee oder Tee für den frühen Morgen, wie ich es von Hotels im Ausland kenne, habe ich vermisst .

We stayed for six nights. This hotel is a gem and I would highly recommend it. Prices are fair and the hotel is beautiful. A modernized old local restaurant with modern wing for new rooms. The renovations are beautiful and modern. The old guest house and restaurant too. Staff are very friendly. Restaurant serves great food. Breakfast was very good. I wish however it was a buffet versus breakfast at the table. But the breakfast still very nice.
