I stayed in this pub for one night. It’s a really welcoming place in a lovely part of the world. The food was sensational too. I had the fish and chips. I would totally recommend staying here. There’s plenty of amazing walks on the doorstep and it’s a short journey to Durham or Newcastle.

We stayed two nights in late October in a twin room which was clean, warm and had everything we needed. Food in the bar was high quality pub fare prepared with care and the breakfasts are proper breakfasts that set you up for the day. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well indeed. Set in a village environment in stunning countryside, what more could you need? We will be back.

Welcoming traditional pub offering good quality well cooked food for dinner, a clean comfortable room, and a nice full English breakfast for a reasonable price. It was exactly what we needed, situated in a quiet village in the North Pennines. Cannot find fault with the venue for our needs

Superb pub with rooms. A warm and hearty welcome after a long day’s walking. Friendly staff and a lovely comfortable room. Tea was delicious and breakfast the next morning excellent. Would highly recommend. A lovely pub in a beautiful location.

We stayed in the apartment above the pub, it was lovely warm and very comfortable, it immaculate throughout. Shame the pub wasn't open for food, but we had pizza's at the Baa across the road, which were very good! Would definitely recommend the apartment.

We had a brilliant stay here. Lovely welcome for us and our old dog Dora. The room was great - warm and spotlessly clean. Complimentary teas, coffees, mineral water and biscuits. We had a great evening meal in the restaurant and a huge breakfast all of which was tasty and cooked well. Dora had biscuits and her own sausage breakfast; lovely to have a proper dog friendly place. The village is peaceful and the surrounding countryside is beautiful with abundant rabbits, grouse, lapwing and even a barn owl. Derwent Arms and Edmundbyers we will be back.
