Mercure Port of Echuca

Hotel is very very very old.

We stayed one night in a king room. Ample parking onsite. Staff were accommodating and allowed us to park with a trailer onsite. Walking distance to a variety of cafes and restaurants. McDonalds is literally next door. A few pubs around and the Beechworth Bakery is on the same street. Super comfortable bed! Best sleep I’d had in a week of travelling. The upstairs rooms are accessible by stairs so if you have limited mobility it may be worth calling ahead.

Mercure Port of Echuca is well located near restaurants and cafes, and an interesting short 10 minute walk to the Port. Rooms are large and well appointed. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our visit but there are many hotel bistros, cafes and restaurants nearby to suit most tastes. Breakfast offered reasonable choices and was well priced, especially if you are an ALL member.

Have stayed here many times over the years. Room clean, bed and pillows good. Good location to main shops and river within walking distance. Do Not Bother with breakfast!!!! Disgusting and should not be offered… no bread for toaster when we asked they simply said oh we must have run out..food offered had either run out and or looked really bad…seriously don’t bother with food.

My wife and I stayed 5 nights, this was a return visit from 10 years plus and we looked forward to seeing how Echuca had changed. The hotel had not changed in that time. We were much younger then, but climbing up over a 130 cm curb from the car park and then climbing up concrete stairs to our room was no joy, especially for my wife who has back issues. Our room was large and comfortable, but it was old, the furniture needed to be replaced or cleaned up - I say this because it is an Accor hotel, not a mum and dad retreat off the beaten highway, offerring cheap rates to passers by. Room service from our point of view was poor. We leave mid morning to explore the region, shop and then have a pub meal. Get back to the hotel around 2-3 pm, to sit back and rest, watch TV or play on the laptop. Every time we got back the room it was the same as we left it in the morning. When room service arrived around 3.30-4.00 pm, we just sent them away. The cleaners are also not to keen on emptying the rubbish in the rooms, there was a bin on our first floor passage, you could empty your rubbish there. The receptionist we had at start and when we left was the same person, and I give her !00 points for our welcome, service during our stay and then departure. Major thumbs down to Hotel Management for their inept reintroduction of a Dinner Service. The resturant has been closed since Covid, they have reopended Tuesday and Wednesday night in late May 2025. Where was a menu, not in my room, at reception, no. Food provided unkown, prices unkown, Lucky Dip, you bet. Would I stay there again, not sure. Since my last 10 plus prior visit, I have found other great accomodation in the town significantly increased. Look around.
