I met family from Australia here and we had a very good evening. The service was first class and food was excellent, particularly the dessert, see pic below!!!!My overnight stay was also very good and the breakfast next day was great.

Good location for Alton Towers, but not much nearby.
Service was mixed - duty managers were good and very helpful. Bar staff were average, breakfast staff were below average. They only have one member of staff for breakfast, which is not great if there are more than a few guests. They also charge extra for hash browns in the full English breakfast. The hotel room and restaurant were clean and tidy. Rooms do not have air con and the heating was on high, no way to turn down the radiators without assistance, but unfortunately the reception closes at around 10pm. Overall our stay was adequate but we probably won't be returning.

Fantastic local accommodation. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and comfy. The on-site bar and dining was also very good. We enjoyed fresh ingredients and good quality food on all of our visits. The staff were fantastic here too!
Overall an excellent choice of local accommodation, reasonably close to nearby attractions. We highly recommend.

Although no longer a carvery we had plated Sunday lunch from the kitchen. This was absolutely excellent, very generous portions, piping hot and excellent value for money, in our view a much better and more relaxed meal than the carvery options, we will be back. The service was extremely friendly and efficient, which was supported by a good range of beers and extensive zero drink options. It’s worth noting that the roast option is available 7 days a week.

Stayed for 3 nights as working at a local golf event, really pleasant stay with a modern large room, clean and well presented. Really friendly staff in the bar & restaurant with top quality food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

A very pleasant weekend stay at The Boars Head. We came up for a wedding event and chose this as it was the most appealing and closest to the venue. The rooms were a good size, very clean and well presented and the breakfast was of very good quality and of good choice. The parking facilities are also good with very helpful and courteous staff. We would certainly choose this again the next time we visit. A couple of things we would say, we both thought that there were some areas that could do with a "Refresh" such as the doors, furniture and fittings as they all look a bit tired but the bathrooms have had a recent refit and are very good. The pricing was towards the upper limit of what we were prepared to pay but the location is much better and far more pleasant than other local B&B's

Recently held our wedding reception and evening gathering here just over 2 weeks ago and whilst we originally thought all went well on the day as were a pretty easy going couple once we left the venue on the Sunday we started to put the pieces of the jigsaw together. Despite us paying in full for the venue and rooms we encountered the following issues, when my wife tried to check us in we was told we don't have a room for you yep no room for the bride and groom this was rectified with us getting a std double room. Later on the Sunday afternoon we were contacted asking for £145 for an unpaid bar tab after a few calls it transpired they had miss laid a receipt and their was no amount due ( just to clarify nor me or my wife ever opened any tab and all services were paid in advance). So finally thinking all was ok we go on our honeymoon only to find they have taken money out of our bank account without authorisation from us again with no explanation of why or what for. Was told a refund would be issued but still waiting for this !!!!

Enjoyed a 2 night work related break at the hotel. The welcome was a very warm one, the food was great value for money and cooked to perfection. Heartily recommend the breakfast, the bacon was exceptional. Staff were very helpful and polite. Well done and thank you.
