The Grand Silk Route

I had a disappointing experience during my stay at Muscatel Grand Silkroute in Gangtok. While the location is decent and the room itself was clean, the overall quality of service and hygiene left much to be desired. The front desk staff seemed poorly informed and unhelpful, making the check-in process unnecessarily frustrating. Though the room was tidy, the bedsheets, blankets, and pillows were visibly old, stained, and far from clean, which made the stay uncomfortable. Breakfast was another low point – the bowl I was served in was dirty, and the staff in the dining area were loud and unprofessional, creating an unpleasant dining atmosphere. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. There are better options in Gangtok with more attentive service and higher cleanliness standards.

I stayed here from 22nd March 2023 evening 7:30 pm, till 24th morning after breakfast. Got this hotel automatically added by MakeMyTrip.com while booking my Sikkim Tour Package. Positives - 1. Room - We had a regular room booked for us with no view. BUT the hotel upgraded us, for free, to a better room with a balcony and a mesmerising view. And the Upgrade was done beforehand, without even asking for it, probably because the HOTEL COULD. This gesture really really enhanced my experience there. I can't be thankful enough to the hotel. - The upgraded room was a corner one and had the WIDE view of the locality, the city, the mountains, the house on the hills, the clouds entrapping them, and a small balcony for breeze and better viewing experience. - The amenities, utilities in the room were perfect. Multiple blankets, wardrobes, sofa, table, beds, everything was well provided. 2. Food - Breakfast was UNLIMITED. Its a buffet with different menu on both the days we ate there. - On 23rd March, I had Bread pakoda ++ Idly ++ Sambhar ++ tea ++ omelettes. - On 24th March, I had Bread pakoda ++ Pasta ++ Plain White Bread ++ Butter ++ Puri ++ Sabji ++ Tea ++ omelettes. - The food was delicious. On both the days, I finished every grain. Took pic of my crystal clean plate, after finishing. - Had dinner only on 22nd March and it tasted great!! 3. Location - - There was a steep spiral road from Main Road to hotel downwards. It was amazing to experience this road and later have evening walk on it. - The hotel is walkable to small shops, houses, other hotels, restaurants, movie theatre, beautifully flower-decorated footover bridges and most importantly, Lal Bazaar on one side and MG Marg on the other. You would never wanna miss these places for the real Gangtok feel. Negatives - Nothing as such. Everything was top notch perfect! My overall rating - 5/5.

One of the best hotel’s in Gangtok.I stayed here 4 nights with my family. All the staffs are really good and friendly. Heartfelt gratitude to Aniket,Samchuk and all the staffs for your wonderful hospitality.
