Na een warm welkom van Pierre en zijn schoonmoeder Vana, vergezeld van een verfrissend drankje van het huis, begon onze fijne vakantie in de Peloponnesos, Githieo. We verbleven met onze dochters van 9 en 14 jaar in het prachtige Alistos Hotel, een plek waar een autenthieke sfeer en luxe naadloos samenkomen. Het hotel is gebouwd in traditionele stijl, waardoor het lijkt alsof de tijd heeft stilgestaan. Toch ontbreekt het binnen aan niets: alles straalt comfort, smaak en kwaliteit uit. De entourage is tot in de kleinste details verzorgd. Denk aan sfeervolle verlichting, geurige lavendel, overal olijfbomen en een adembenemend uitzicht over de bergen. Wat dit verblijf extra bijzonder maakte, was de oprechte gastvrijheid van de eigenaren. Zowel Pierre, zijn vrouw en Vana gaven ons het gevoel écht welkom te zijn. Vana deelde bovendien mooie Griekse verhalen en geschiedenis met ons. Heel persoonlijk en waardevol. Het zwembad is heerlijk en voorzien van comfortabele ligbedden en badhanddoeken. Je kunt er een verfrissend drankje bestellen terwijl je zwemt met uitzicht op het berglandschap werkelijk magisch. Onze kamer was brandschoon. En geloof me, ik ben kritisch, maar alles was perfect. Elke dag werd er schoongemaakt en kregen we schone handdoeken. We hadden een eigen buitenterras en voorzieningen zoals een koffiemachine, föhn, kluisje, minibar, badjassen en een heerlijk bed. Ook hier was de inrichting stijlvol en doordacht. Het ontbijt was elke dag net iets anders, met steeds vers fruit, Griekse specialiteiten en een ruim aanbod er ontbrak werkelijk niets. ’s Avonds kun je kiezen uit een dagelijks wisselend menu met 2 à 3 opties per gang. De gerechten waren stuk voor stuk heerlijk, met verse kruiden en groenten. Culinaire verwennerij op hoog niveau! Tot slot is Alistos een perfecte uitvalsbasis voor uitstapjes, zoals de mooie Diros Caves, de stranden in de omgeving, het indrukwekkende Dimitrios-scheepswrak, het historische Sparta, en als je het niet erg vindt om wat langer te rijden; het kanaal van Korinthe, goed te combineren met een bezoek aan de Tempel van Apollo. Wij hebben een fantastische tijd gehad en komen hier heel graag nog eens terug. Een absolute aanrader!

We will be back!
Our stay was simply excellent. The hotel managers, the details and the beauty and syle of the place are amazing.
The only thing we did not like was the price of the drinks in the pool. Is good to have a menu to see prices before;)

Inoubliable comme le nom de l 'hotel..
Magnifique demeure rénovée avec charme et gout au milieu des oliviers dans un calme reposant et avec joli panorama . Confort et luxe dans la chambre et tres belle piscine. Des proprietaires adorables , prévenants et toujours prets a vous conseiller... a recommander sans reserve !

From the initial welcome at the door by the loveliest hosts the experience at the Alistos Hotel just kept getting better and better. The hotel was only completed in 2017 so even though it is all stone construction and looks like part of the landscape, it all new. The attention to detail is seen throughout the whole hotel, from monogrammed king size towels, to placemats and water bottles. Everything is thoughtful and tasteful. The rooms are a great size with oversizes showers with rain shower heads from the ceiling. The beds and pillows are super comfortable. We took the breakfast included option and the buffet is fantastic with a selection of breads, cold meats, fresh fruit, pastry's, freshly squeezed orange juice, and coffee or tea the way you like it. The hotel has 14 rooms and is only 5 km away from Gytheio which abounds in great restaurants and beaches.

Schitterend hotel op een wonderschone plek. Bovenop een heuvel nieuw in oude stijl opgetrokken. Mooie zitjes rondom. Mooie tuin, olijfbomen, bloeiende jasmijn. Heerlijk zwembad ga zo maar door. Eigenaren (stel) super gastvrij. Kamers allemaal verschillend, heel compleet en heerlijke zachte lakens. Kortom een aanrader

A brilliant place run by a brilliant young couple - we came back for that reason alone, as if we were visiting old friends and catching up. We had a lovely room, with a brilliant walk-in shower, a lovely balcony overlooking the olive groves and hills, comfy bed and all mod cons. The pool area is fantastic for lounging under the shade of the olive trees and the hosts will bring you cold water (and a chilled glass of wine in my case). Breakfasts are truly amazing, with a different egg dish every day, everything presented 'just so', freshly squeezed orange juice, good coffee, whipped yoghurt, fresh fruit and sweet and savoury pastries. It's a perfect place to explore the area or just to stay put and enjoy some down time.

A gorgeous place, beautifully appointed - everything is 'just so', from the fabrics in the room to the lovely breakfast, colourful pool loungers, amazing fluffy towels and sweet-smelling toiletries, but what makes this place is the incredible welcome by a charming multi-lingual young couple. Pierre and Antigone are the utmost hosts, always ready to chat but also happy to let you be if you want a bit of solitude admiring the view. I was touched by the way Antigone, realising my husband had a bit of trouble with stairs, changed our room to one with fewer stairs, with no fuss and without being at all patronising, quite the opposite. Our room was on the small side but well appointed, with a gorgeous turquoise bathroom and a small balcony with a table and two chairs. The only issue I would mention is that the bath plug did not work but it had a good rain shower over the bath. Breakfast included freshly pressed orange juice, delicious local pastries and egg dishes (the scrambled eggs with tomato on our last day were excellent), fruit salad, creamy yoghurt and more, with everything beautifully presented. Last but not least our dog Bubble was made so welcome she didn't want to leave! She could play with the house dog Lola and brown Lab Bruno from next door came to our door every day to ask her if she wanted to play. I think he had a crush on her and will miss her. Alistos means 'unforgettable' and we will definitely remember this place.
