We stayed here for 1 night and we were exceptionally happy with our room. Modern and fresh interiors with clean facilities. Great complimentary tea and coffee facilities and wine glasses available should you need them. Quaint village position and our room overlooked a quiet road. The bed was a super king and the bedding and pillows were all super soft making our stay very comfortable. We would definitely recommend. The food in the accompanying bar is superb. (See separate review for the crown and kitchen). The staff were all very friendly and extremely accommodating. Breakfast was superb

We arrived quite late in the evening, but had a warm welcome at the bar and were shown to our spacious room. Plenty parking spaces in street outside. The en-suite had a huge stand alone bath and separate shower. The bed was comfortable and room clean. Breakfast was very tasty and we were made to feel incredibly welcome by the owner. A stay here includes breakfast and given the quality of the room was a great deal. The whole place has a friendly feel to it and we’ll return to stay again and try Sunday meal and a drink by the fire.

We saw that there were many good reviews, so decided to stay one night on a trip to northern Scotland. Whilst there is no car park, there was plenty of on street, unlimited parking spaces close by the inn. We were greeted with a welcoming smile, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful Rooms were in a separate building next door, and so were quiet. Our room was large, beautifully decorated and contemporary, with a roll top bath and walk in shower. Our evening meal was very good, with fish, meat, vegetarian/vegan choices. Breakfast was excellent for a small establishment. There were several choices of cereals, summer fruits and yoghurts on the bar to help yourself to, as well as large beautifully cooked breakfasts, or you could choose items from them. The price was more than reasonable, and we are happy to recommend it and we will stay there again when we are in the area.

Went for lunch, there was a nice selection on the menu. Ended up with burgers and pie of the day ( chicken and bacon ) the pie was delicious and the others agreed it was great tasting lunch. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again!

We arrived after walking the John Muir Way and settled in with a paper and a libation and stayed for the evening - the food was fabulous and matched by the delightful service. We felt thoroughly welcomed in this hopping local favourite. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was generous and delightful.

Well what can I say ! Couldn’t wait to leave the cottage was filthy cobwebs in every corner spiders galore ! Carpet coming away on the staircase. I would highly recommend they employ a new housekeeping/ cleaning company as it looked like cottage 4 hasn’t seen a duster in years ! All smoke detectors were removed, water stains all over the kitchen ceiling from water leak, throws on sofa to hide all the stains. Couldn’t find a thermostat as the radiators kept firing up. Then there’s the trains it’s basically underneath the main Trainline so trains don’t stop until 11-12pm then back at around 5am nightmare whole cottage shakes when they pass! Could be so much better which is a shame☹️

The bedroom was spacious, clean and comfy. Breakfast was really nice, however breakfast didn't start until 8 so you'll miss out if you need to be out early. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. It is worth noting they don't serve dinner on Tuesdays so I had to find somewhere else to eat in the evening (I don't think they serve dinner on Mondays either so check that before you go). Overall very happy with the stay, will come back again.

Front of house are a joke…putting this up now because I keep hearing more and more of the same stories about this place, last summer a friend and I went in too have a drink and get some food…soon as we walked in all the waiting and bar staff which looked pretty much like children were standing in a big group talking and taking the mick between themselves…we stood there repeatedly trying too get their attention which they all just ignored us until one looked at us confused why we were just standing there and told her we were going to be at a table out the back so someone could actually serve us which we just got “ehh okay?” And went right back too chatting with the rest of them…we sat out the back and waited a hour for a menu which we ended up having to go back up too the bar to get one…a girl that was serving other tables (short, dark hair with tattoo on the back of her arm above her elbow) just blatantly ignored our table even though we were repeatedly looking right at her shouting on her…waited another hour on staff until we had to go up too the bar and order our food cause no one bothered too come…we also had to keep going and ordering drinks up at the bar and bringing them back ourselves and then had to go back up too the bar too ask where our food was someone eventually brought it which was the food was great but then we had too go back up too the bar and ask for the check…there was also a female KP standing with the door open in the kitchen which looked underage and had hardly any clothing on just standing there in a vest that had been purposely tied up like a bra only just covering her chest and joggers on…we could hear other tables talking about her saying it was in appropriate and unprofessional, and we thought the place would of looked a lot better inside, the pictures online are a lot better than it actually is
