Spruce Lane Lodge and Cottages

This is a very mixed review. Pros: large rooms, sink area separate from shower/tub and shower, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cold AC, hot shower water with good pressure, rooms seemed to have been recently updated with nice flooring and nice painted walls, parking was easy and off the main highway (no highway noise), great location close to lots of attractions and great food venues (Sight & Sound, American Music Theater, Millers Smorgasbord, Bird in Hand Farmer's Market, etc.). Cons: The backyard is an airport landing ***** that opens at 6am ( no plane activity overnight though), mattresses literally squeak when you move on them (not the worst mattress but definitely not the best), check in is via phone with a person who has a heavy accent and is difficult to understand. When we entered our room, within minutes my husband's allergies were going crazy. We noticed some pet fur on the sofa bed, which we were told service animals are allowed to stay. We left for a short while and when we came back, he had the same problem. Then we noticed a huge moldy area on the side of the sofa (like 12 inches across!). We called and asked for a room change, which we were granted. The room was a downgrade from what we reserved (two queens instead of a king) but at least my husband could breathe again. It was not a total loss of a night, but we will be looking for a different place next time. This would probably work well if you planned to be up early in the morning or needed a larger room for someone in a wheelchair.

Booked the farmhouse for a few days- it was a good price, and nice to have all the space for family gathering. A/c in each room working ok- kutchen mostly stocked but no real coffeepot .That said, this house is very old, and while it's not falling apart, it's kind of not well kept up. 2 bathrooms, both upstairs - everything is pretty old and not in "pretty antique " way.... overall nice quiet place to stay, don't love the checkin process, it would be nicer with a person on-site rather than calling. We would stay again.

Like other recent reviewers, we found the property has deteriorated since we were here last Fall. We have been visiting Spruce Lane twice a year for many years and this time we noticed several shortcomings. These are issues that are easily resolved with proper attention. The lawn had not been cut and was easily 9" tall. The soda machine was gone. The ice machine was empty. There were, however, employees on the premises that responded to our needs. Spruce Lane remains a charming property so much better that a cookie-cutter motels that dominate the area and they have substantially improved the interior of the rooms. But they need to focus on enhancing the grounds. what we experienced was a real turn-off.

Do Not Stay Here! We have stayed here for several years without issues but place is now under new management. Rooms were dirty, blinds broken, toilet in one of our rooms barely flushed. One washcloth for two people for a three night stay, no tissues, no cups for coffeepot. Made three phone calls to the number listed speaking with "Mike" and "Sean" with no success. Always told that it would be taken care of but never saw a soul. "Contactless" check in is a ridiculous hassle- phone at the office doesn't even work! This was a reservation made months in advance- its not like we surprised them. We will not go back. Spoke with neighboring guests that felt the same. It is a shame- it used to be a nice place.

BUGS ON BED!! I booked a room online for two days at this establishment. I checked in at 10:15 p.m. on 11-20-24 and checked out early at 8:15 a.m. on 11-21-24. The heater in the room sounded like a jet engine so I was unable to sleep and I discovered numerous dead bugs on the bed sheets, in addition to weird stains on the pillow cases. The sofa in the room (room 41) was absolutely filthy. Naturally I canceled my second day, and requested a refund, but was refused the refund. STAY AWAY from this dirty and lousy foreign-owned establishment.

These are lovely cottages! They’re set back from the main road so it’s quiet, but handy to get to many fun locations. It’s nice to have such a big room to come back to, and there is always a light on right by your door. Each cottage has a private feel and you can park right in front. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was good. We have stayed here over many years and always feel safe and provided for. We enjoy that there’s a table with two chairs, along with an upholstered chair. The small refrigerator is great to have too. The price, location and charm make Spruce Lane Lodge and Cottages a place we will enjoy coming back to many times!
