The Country Inn of Lancaster

I picked this hotel and had high hopes. I didn’t want to go to a chain hotel while in Lancaster. There were several things I was not impressed with. I will say that the room is dated but I knew that going in and I was fine with it. Also, the bathroom was very clean . However, the room was musty. We checked in on Wednesday and came back Thursday night and Friday night with no changing of towels, bed made or rug vacuumed. My husband went down to the front desk and was told they only clean the room on a two day schedule so our room was not scheduled to be taken care of until Saturday. The towels were not changed out. I don’t mind using a towel for more than one day. However, there were no hooks on the bathroom door to hang the towels so we had towels trying to dry them all over the room. My husband spoke to the front desk and we were told we could request them and then throw the other ones outside the door, Then, at 2 a.m. in the morning a light shining on the parking lot came on and was shining right into the room. I understand the need for lights in parking lots but to come on at 2 a.m.???? Most people have already gone through the parking lot to get to their room. I will say the front desk clerks were all very pleasant. I won’t be staying here again and would not recommend it.

This is the second time we stayed here, not by choice, but we were on a bus trip. Two years ago we complained the rooms were very musty smelling and here two years later and they are still the same way. We talked to others on our tour and they said the same. The tour director said she’ll let the tour company know? Other than that, employees were very friendly, rooms were clean, cute place. Coffee, tea, etc popcorn available. Breakfast included. We went across the parking lot for breakfast as all large groups do. Good breakfast buffet. Did not go to the pool. Games available in lobby. Beds were so-so. I’ve had more comfortable beds and pillows. Bathroom was very nice.

It’s not a bad property but it is showing its age. I had stopped coming here years ago because of a musty odor from the carpets and I switched to the other Country Inn (now Parkview). When their rates went insane, we tried this property again. No mildew smell; they pulled up the carpets. I think they’re slowly renovating… my other room has had an updated air conditioner. Ours is pretty loud but it does work. The towel rack is loose and I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom to find the toilet bowl full of towels and a towel bar on the floor. To their credit, when we told them we needed towels they offered to come and fix it immediately, but it made little sense as we were checking out the next day. Ask to stay in the front building.. the free breakfast has more items on offer. The pool is nice but the jets in the hot tub are broken per my wife. On the plus side, they do have shampoo and conditioners in the room but a refrigerator would be nice.. especially given the tendency to purchase baked goods in the area. Also, as a side note.. I used my credit card to buy a $3 soda and my card got charged $3.15 cents. I plan on following up on that with my credit card company.

Hotel front desk person was very pleasant. The room smells funny and not in a good way. The beds are lumpy and very soft no support at all, carpet is dirty looking, furniture is old. I just feel itchy. I would never stay here again and I have stayed here in the past and it was absolutely fine. In desperate need of a deep cleaning and renovations.
