I stayed on the Friday before Christmas and was pleased to find my room (14) had sufficient heavy fire doors along the corridor to silence all noise from the function rooms and bar where parties were in full swing. The large bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices other than a dry-up and I enjoyed the Eggs royale with a generous helping of smoked salmon. There was also a reasonable selection of cereals, fruits etc. although not much in the way of cheeses of cold meats. Staff were all pleasant and helpful, also the WiFi was fast and easy to connect to and the 'landing page' didn't annoy by asking for an email address. Hurrah! The room and en-suite were both very clean and had modern fixture and fittings. An observation, the tap in the sink has waterfall spout so be careful when turning on full or expect to be drying water splashes off your trousers. One irritation was the matress sites within a wooden bed frame, so sitting down on the bed means the frame hits the back of the your legs. Some things I did notice which struck me as odd for a hotel which has aspiration to 4*: - The room was lacking an easy chair/club chair and table although I thought there was space. There was a desk and upright chair for someone working at a laptop. - The walk-in shower gave a nice hot shower but there was a single do-it-all shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, you could expect separate products. - The mini-bar was well stocked plus confenctionary was on the desk; I expected the water would have been complementary but that was £2.90 for a bottle. All in all, I'd certainly go back.
