Clarion Hotel Marina & Conference Center is located in Chadwick Bay with quick access to Route 60, Fredonia State, the bay pier, and beach. Views of Lake Erie, Chadwick Bay, and the marina are very good and contribute significantly to the hotel's appeal. View from the hotel and grounds of an electrical power station predominates the West side profile of the bay. Staff are knowledgeable. Lobby appeared clean and appeared to be the most recent feature renovated in this hotel. Guest rooms had dated amenities (no USB outlets other than the television) and were minimally clean. The guest room AM/FM clock radio was not functional and had a nine-volt battery taped into the bottom of the unit. The guest room carpet and bathroom floor had some errant hairs from previous guests at the time of my stay. Chrome finish fixtures in guest room and bathroom were flecked with rust spots. Fruit flies were a nuisance in the guest room, bathroom, and were prevalent throughout my stay. Windows were spotted with stains. Please be advised, not all guest rooms have mini-refrigerators and/or microwaves. Corridor floors and walls were dirty and assorted particles of lint and hair were prevalent. Exterior corridor doors were unlocked at all times and did not require guest key card access. Fitness center featured minimal, dated equipment and did not include free weights, mats, etc. Exterior hotel pool appeared clean, but I did not utilize during my stay. Ample, free parking available, although the parking lot was alligatored with cracks and stubborn ****s. Free breakfast buffet available with average quality fare with limited selection. Windjammer on-site restaurant and bar were closed for renovations and ”deep cleaning” at the time of my stay. A few take-out and seafood restaurants were in close proximity of hotel, mostly clustered around the pier. Hotel is within walking distance of Chadwick Bay pier and beach. Vehicle traffic noise is average but busy freight rail tracks are located only one block away in the City of Dunkirk. Overall, average to disappointing experience as I visited the same hotel in the mid 1990s when it was a significantly well-kept Sheraton Four Points property. I would consider returning to this hotel only after significant renovations have been made.
