Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie

The nicest thing I can say is that we didn’t get bedbugs. Rooms were dated and dingy, floor in the room hadn’t been vacuumed and was very dirty, grout in shower was black in places. I was actually thankful that the bedding smelled like bleach, because at least it was probably sanitized. We were there for a conference, and the food was terrible. If we return to this conference, we will stay at a different hotel and commute!

Great location and, an awesome view of Lake Erie We had a tough experience, a broken TV, a weird smell, and a flood. We are in our third room in 2 days... I commend Steven Kochelmeyer for his kindness and willingness to help us in every way. He was willing to try to find an air freshener to come twice to fix the TV. Checked on our third room to ensure everything was working, He made an almost disastrous vacation very pleasant. We so appreciate his service ethic. Amanda helped with the flood, but 7 hours later no one had cleaned our first flooded room. If it wasn't for Steven, I would have given only two stars.

This place is dirty despite a lovely lobby. Rooms smell from a foul odor. Tv doesn’t work. Ice machines broken. Rat traps outside lobbies. Front desk staff on Sunday evening is Horrible. SAFETY OF HOTEL IS A CONCERN . THEY TRY TO STEAL YOUR MONEY IF YOU PAY THROUGH 3rd party booking service and charge you again! NOT A PLACE TO STAY AT ANY PRICE.

I was so disappointed in this hotel, I expected a great experience because it was right on Lake Erie, the price of $242.50 for one night etc. My room was dirty, with a window that wouldn't shut properly. Spiders in the room, in their webs by the window. Stains on the carpet and it was dirty. The bathroom mirror had what looked like hot chocolate thrown on it but was actually where the mirror plate was rubbing off. Numerous broken parts of the mirror The hallway where the steps go outside was filthy. When we first arrived in our room we could not get the tv to work. Finally a front desk person came down and fixed it. After this person fixed the tv, I told here about everything in the room and told her that I was not happy with our room. I also showed her the pamphlet that is in your room that if you are not happy to let the front desk know and they would do everything they can do make it right. After I showed her that, she said okay and turned to walk away. I said wait a minute. What are you going to do about it? She then tells me that I can call the manager and she can't do anything about it. This is terrible customer service by the way. I told her that she needs to tell the manager to call me. And then she left. I didn't receive a phone call for over an hour. And all the manager told me is that she understood and would pass my complaints on. Well, another customer service failure. If the rooms were under $100, I might say it was worth it. But not $242.50 a night. I will never stay here again nor will I recommend it. The only thing I can say that was good was the breakfast.

Our room was infested w spiders. Several, they vacuumed and they were still crawling up the walls and ceiling. Beyond that the room was old, rust in bathroom, musty wall in poor shape. They moved us- no spiders but a very strong mold smell- we kept to door cracked open for fresh air. We both had headaches and coughs only when in room. The owner should be embarrassed. 2 nights $429??? Neve again

I can’t imagine how difficult it is to manage a budget hotel after the pandemic in New York State, but Clarion in Dunkirk seems to do it well thanks to the concerted efforts of Courtney and Michael. They both made our stay much better. Attentive. Joyful. Helpful. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying at this hotel to my best friend, Kurt.

The Clarion in Dunkirk is an adequate hotel. The folks at the desk were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and there was a fridge. I stayed for 9 nights and my only real issue was that no one cleaned the room during my stay. I believe the hotel is understaffed as far as the cleaning services. The lobby is always clean and welcoming but the trash receptacles on the various floors were not emptied for days and were stuffed full. The washer and dryer also need to be cleaned.

Above and beyond! The facility, especially the rooms, are a little older, but they are clean and well kept. The front desk employee who checked us in could not have been nicer! They did not have a handicapped accessible room available, but that was ok, as we had made the reservation last minute. But after we checked in, housekeeping came up and fitted the toilet with a handicap riser with bars. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast offering, but everything was fresh and the lady working the buffet kept it all clean and fresh. What a joy to visit a hotel that still actually cares about their customers. Bravo, Clarion!

I checked in to my lake view king, which I paid a higher rate for. The door would not lock. I was downgraded to a double room. I was told I would have to pay the same rate because the hotel was so busy. I wasn't happy but I agreed to it. I got to my new room and the toilet doesn't work. I looked at the back and the water wasn't filling up. I went to the front desk and asked for a bucket because there weren't any other rooms. The woman at the front desk was very kind but she said they don't have any buckets. So for tonight I will be using my garbage can to put water into the back of the toilet. I don't have time to move to another hotel today. I would strongly encourage people to look elsewhere if they need to stay in this area.
