Residence Inn Richmond Midtown/Glenside

This hotel was outstanding: fresh, clean and beautifully designed. Rooms were extremely functional, and it was intuitive to find things. Staff was professional, polished, and very friendly. Lobby area was alive with people all the time, and especially at night. There was a great vibe with the bar. Also, aesthetically I just loved the decor in this hotel. Absolute number one choice if you’re going to Richmond area.

This is an older Residence Inn property, but it is very well maintained. The appliances are always in working order. The carpets are clean. The shower is outstanding. Great water pressure, and I always look forward to settling down here after a long day on the road. This is my go-to hotel in Richmond.

Mark was an absolute pleasure in helping us find the right room that fit our needs. The hotel staff are very accommodating and polite. The room is spotless and the hotel has great amenities that include an indoor pool. We will definitely be booking a room at this place in the future.

When making our reservation, we had been told that check-in time was 3:00. After slogging through 3 hours of traffic, we arrived at 4:30 and were told that our room was not ready, and it would be ready "within the hour." We mentioned that check-in was 3:00 and we were already 90 minutes past that. The clerk admitted that the previous guest stayed over for a late checkout. I asked why they would allow that when the room was sold for 3:00. He said that they were a Titanium Club member (well ex-cu-u-u-u-se me!) and they accommodate them. I asked, "Even at the expense of other guests, who are also paying the same rate?" Well, we hung out in the lobby, then checked again at 5:30 when we had heard nothing. They had not started cleaning the room yet and they told us they would put two housekeepers on it and have it ready in 20 minutes. We were meeting our son for a dinner reservation in Richmond so couldn't wait another 20 minutes. So instead of cleaning up and relaxing in our room for an hour or so, we were just sidelined in the lobby. The room was nice, clean, and well equipped. It was not well sound-proofed; we heard a lot of street noise and could hear people talking on the terrace below late into the evening. Self-serve breakfast is included (which we did not know when we booked), with hot and cold selections. I usually have granola, which is the one thing they did not have. The bed had a nice firm, but not too firm, mattress. Overall a nice, if generic, stay, but the check-in experience soured us on the first day.
