I really wanted to love this hotel. It has so much potential. However,  the constant barking during the night from dogs on the adjacent property is overwhelming. Poor quality windows make it seem like the dogs are barking in your room. If you value your sleep, stay somewhere else.

I was in Dumaguete for a business trip and Hotel Dumaguete made my first trip to the city quite a relaxing one. It didn’t feel like work. The pool (though I didn’t get to dip) was fantastically tropical you’ll forget where you really are. The Buglas Isla Cafe behind the hotel (in the same estate) offered great variety of meals and perfect shots for the ‘gram. Did I mention that the hotel welcome drink was sooooo good?

Hotel is located in the heart of the city and is very accessible. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in, and the staff welcomed us warmly. They let us know our rooms were already ready, even though we were early. We were served a delicious, refreshing drink that we really enjoyed. They also gave us cool wet towels to freshen up when we arrived. We were offered a complimentary cheese platter and wine from their rooftop bar—sadly, we didn’t get to try it. The staff were very attentive and even took us to nearby places in the city for free. The hotel’s free car service also brought us back to the airport on time, which was very convenient. Highly recommended. Great service and excellent staff!

This is a highly regarded hotel with a lot of positives. Great staff, lovely 4th floor bar, wonderful shaded pool, and close to many restaurants. The room itself is modern and comfortable, we like the provided safe and the breakfast choices. About breakfast - black tea is extra, green tea is free. No refills on either tea or coffee. We were in room 206 facing the street. This is notoriously across from the open air pool hall where they blast crappy music into the night. I asked to be moved to the back where I’m sure it would be quieter, but, it would be ‘extra’ charge. And, there were only two rooms occupied during our stay, so, that would have been a customer appreciation gesture. We were put off by this - what shall I call it - cheapness? Doubtful we’ll make it back here - it’s nice, not cheap, and comfortable. Just get room in back.
