Just 2 small parts of the resort that I wish had been better: 1) We were on the 3rd floor of the condo that we were in, and there were no elevators. We are all retired, and carrying our bags, etc., up 3 flights of steps was difficult. 2) The one bathroom was VERY small. You could barely turn around. The other bathroom was excellent!!! Other than these 2 items, we loved the resort!!!

Such a great location to spend a family vacation. The unit was cleaned, available promptly before actual check-in and there were upgrades to the televisions, living room furniture and washer/dryer units. We always come to OBX and love Barrier Island Station.

The unit was big and updated. Proximity to the beach was amazing. Pool and activities for an exchange were perfect. Well worth the trip from NY. Only complaint is the windows in the unit has no curtains. I like rooms dark and these were the opposite.

Loved Barrier Island Station, our unit was large and furnished well. Lots of pillows and great bedding. Our deck overlooked the pool and the ocean, unit 802A-B.

Our vacation experience was truly wonderful! The location was beautiful and relaxing, and the facilities exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean, well-maintained for the age of the resort. From the accommodations to the amenities, everything was good — we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend! Location ,location, location...

What started as a simple trip to the resort when I was 16 has turned into a tradition I now share with my own family. We absolutely love Barrier Island its location is unbeatable, with an easy walk to both the beach and the liquor store (lol). The staff make you feel like you're staying at the Four Seasons. Taylor at the front desk is amazing, and Mike, the GM, plays a huge role in keeping everything running smoothly. Every time we leave, we're genuinely sad we’d stay forever if we could. They’ve recently added a bunch of new activities for the kids, and the Snack Shack serves what might be the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Can't wait to come back!

Overall, the location is beautiful. We loved the resort being right on the beach and an easy walk or bike ride into town. The bike paths are amazing! The recently renovated indoor pool and game room are quite lovely. We enjoyed the pickleball court as well as shuffleboard. However, there are two issues that may prevent me from returning. Firstly, the walls are PAPER THIN. We could hear conversations of people in the unit next to us and could hear them snoring at night. It was actually almost unbelievable. Secondly, upon leaving, I found that I was charged a much higher cleaning fee than was listed on my booking document. When I called the resort to inquire, they were quite short with me and said it wasn't their problem. In addition to the fee being quite high ($160 for a 1-bedroom unit, 3 night stay), the rudeness of the front desk staff was really frustrating.

Easy access to beaches, restaurants, boardwalks, and parks. This is a nice Island Getaway. Resort stayers should be aware of lots of stairs and sand spurs throughout the grounds. Be prepared for up and down sand dunes climbs. This resort is not for the weary.
