55 & 54 Stairs Apartments

The name captures something essential: you have to walk up 54 stairs to reach this apartment. Your starting point is a street already well above the Old Town, which means that you will enjoy a great view when on top. The apartment was spacious, bright, and sported good kitchen ware and an essential fridge. A file on the table provided useful local information, including many options for excursions. The washing machine came in handy. Useful beach towels were provided. But there was also room for improvements. It took several rounds of texting before I got an exact meeting point, which was not the same as the address in the confirmation email. We were met, 12 minutes late, in the sweltering heat on the street below the stairs leading up to the apartment. Our host unlocked a gate that provided access. Thankfully, he was very helpful with our luggage. There was a bug problem that the owner needs to attend to. One of two A/Cs did not work, but fortunately one could provide sufficient cooling. We discovered that the safe was not operational other than by master key, which we were given. That safe model is ancient and prone to malfunction in my experience.
