We visited Drewsteignton, Devon as I have close ties with the Mudge family. Family members were married at Holy Trinity Church in the village and are now buried in the churchyard. My Auntie was the niece of Mabel Mudge who was landlady of the Drew Arms until she died aged 99 years old. My Auntie also grew up in the village. I was excited to visit the Drew Arms for a coffee and chat to the new owners. They were very unwelcoming and didn't want to know when I said I had ties to Aunt Mabel. They didn't even say goodbye when we left and we were the only guests in the place. If you want a warm welcome don't visit the Drew Arms I'm sad to say.

Beautiful village but sad that this pub has now closed and is up for sale. Hopefully someone will buy it soon and make a success of it again, such a shame as the pub looks gorgeous from the outside with its thatched roof and located in the centre of the village.

Such a pity as clearly used to be a great village pub but today advised no chef and no food able to be served at all for foreseeable future. All felt very run down and grubby. Neighbour pub at Fingle Bridge absolutely rammed so no chance food there today either 😕

This is a lovely pub in the beautiful village. The owners were friendly. Unfortunately the food was terrible. We haven't experienced food this bad in years. The sandwiches, we had were appalling: cheap bread and exceptionally poor quality fillings. We couldn't have chips because "they hadn't yet been delivered". Eventually a supermarket delivery van arrived. The landlady complained that the delivery was missing the meat pies that had been ordered and which were needed for dinner. The board outside says "home cooked food".

We’ll the barman was extremely friendly and welcoming. Scrabble in the front room and treats for the Doog. Btw - go down to Fingle Bridge and then come back on the Hunters walk - cutting across the fields through the cows it’s a great way to use up the min of 2”0 characters for a review

Called in for a drink and food following a long walk. Indifferent service and we were horrified at the quality of the sandwiches we were served. Cheap sliced plastic bread, supermarket ham and a couple of lettuce leaves as a garnish. The price was £6/£7. This is not good value for money. Very little thought and care gone into preparation and quality of ingredients. Disappointing from a pub in a lovely village. Won’t eat there again.

Called in twice in 3 days during our visit to the area. You'll need to go a very long way to find a friendlier welcome from Landlady Jane and barman Phil.....service was impeccable. We had dinner on the 2nd visit which was superb, everything is home made, I had the Steak and Ale pie with hand cut chips and my wife had the Lasagne....both beautifully made and cooked.....nothing is to much trouble we had great advice about where to visit and how to get there....thankyou and take care....Mick and Jan Andrrews x

Most welcoming and friendly pub I have had the pleasure of visiting in a very long time, the food and service are always fantastic nothing is ever too much and the landlady is so knowledgeable about the history and previous landlady it makes for a great interesting conversation. I would definitely recommend a visit!
