Worth a big detour!!
Great stay, with a beautiful view. Erik has been a great host and catered to all our needs. Would not easily recommend a place, but Gannabos was just great on all aspects!

This was definitely a highlight of our South Africa trip - very cozy room (the Kareeboom Schoolhouse), beautiful setting, and the quiver tree forest alone is well worth a 5h drive from Cape Town. It's worth walking through at different times of the day, and being a guest makes that easy. Also Nakkie is great - when we discovered a flat tire the morning of our departure she arranged to have a new one driven up from town (not a simple thing). This is definitely the place to stay if you're in the area!

We stayed at the Old Skool on Kareeboom Farm. Everything was perfect. The open space which serves as kitchen/dining room /sitting room and bedroom is expertly laid out in such a way that one have experience of a much larger space. The decor is perfectly done. The "Period Double bed" is fitted with an excellent mattress covered with white linen and overlain with a real duvet. Utensils are only the best available. Your hostess is as energetic as she is capable. Just a few minutes talking to her will revive anyone unless you are not capable of love, but then you're a lost case anyway. The two evenings that we stayed there had late nightly breezes that we also enjoyed. At this time of the year we did not have any problems with mosquitos Hendrik Bosman
