Checked in late and Francisco could not have been more accommodating including walking me up to my room and getting to chat for a couple minutes about the history of the hotel. The actual hotel is beautiful. Rooms are spacious. It’s a great value for a historical site. Staff makes it great.

Stunning historic lobby Beautiful historic hotel with grand lobby, great bar and restaurant. Rooms are not quite as grand and could use a bit more finishes, such as tile edges in bathrooms, windows near a/c, decor details.

I love the restoration and renovation work the new owners have done. I originally stayed at the Gadsden back in December 2013 and just stayed for a second time in March 2025. There was a dramatic improvement! I'm happy that this grand hotel is being taken care of. That being said -- there is one area for improvement. The room use window air conditioning units and that's fine but the curtains are very awkward. I hade to wrap the curtains over the unit to prevent light and people from the mezzaine terrance from inside the room.

Beautiful and historical property. Staff is top notch, super friendly and very professional. The property could use some loving but it is what it is. Stayed in room 103 and getting hot water in the bathroom was problematic.

Nice hotel, but we had a bad experience in the restaurant last night. We had dinner with another couple and our wives ordered samosas. When the waitperson brought our food it was only then she realized she’d only ordered one samosa from the kitchen for the table, leaving my wife without a meal. Her meal arrived after everyone at the table was halfway through theirs, sharing to keep her going. When she cut into it, It was still frozen on the inside. The samosas were frozen food! The samosa was ordered again, and everyone had finished by the time she got another. The meal was comped, but it’s the first time in our lengthy lives we’ve ever had anything like that happened. If you like vegetarian samosas that the Gadsen Hotel buys frozen at Costco and don’t mind dealing with a kitchen that’s utterly incompetent, the Indian food was Ok.
